Greg foaling around with a couple of builds.

Post by Gregers »

OK. Terrible jokes aside I will be doing a Starfix P51D A Hobbyboss P51B and possibly an Airfix P51D too. I may get tempted to do an Academy P51B as well IF I have time.

All the best.

I got the starfix one from Kingkit as a blast from the past build. I'll probably hide the roughness under cammo. Cheating but it sometimes works.

All the best.

I take it the Starfix kit is much worse than the old Revell ?

If it's the Starfix 1:48, then the kits are equally bad.

The Revell kit is far worse than the Starfix one, The Starfix one seems to be a rip of the Matchbox one though I am not 100% sure on that.

All the best.

Interested in seeing the Starfix, should be fun, seen some of their other kits and they aren't terribly accurate.

The Hobbyboss, Airfix and Academy are all good ones.

Hey, Greg? Is there any lineage to the Starfix kit? Like a cheap knockoff maybe?

Right ho. I have a few hours to attack the plastic and it's horsey things I will be dealing with (what else I hear you say). The Starfix kit will be the first I cast my paws on and I must say it certainly does have a certain 'Matchboxy' feel about it. The decals are a type of 'letraset' affair and are already in the bin  .
Pics following very soon.

Pic time. The dreaded starfix P51D
Image
Not as fearsome to be honest. Just very basic.

Three of these chaps will be occupying the cockpits.

HMMM victims, mwahahaha.

Bad news though. I can't find the decals I bought for the P51B so I will probably use the 'Shangri la' decals from the kit.

All the best.
