The situation in Moore, OK is pretty grim. The Red Cross calls this a Level 5 response. The worst of the worst. Leadership teams are on the ground determining what is needed. Health Services and Mental Health staff are responding right now. There will be more later. Although my position normally is not deployable (I ensure volunteers DO get deployed) I have been put on standy by as I was for Hurricane Sandy.
Staff positions are normally only two weeks in duration before you rotate out.
Should get the 51 done before I get the nod. Tidy up the glass, add antenna wire and attach the drop tanks is all that is left.

Take care if you do get deployed, Jeff.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....
Re: Every Cowboy needs a Pony.
All the glass work is done now. This leaves me with installing the drop tanks and the antenna wire. Might be able to wrap things up tonight yet. The tanks were sourced from a Monogram P-51D kit.
There was a question earlier about the type of razor saw I use. It is the one peddled by John Vojtech of http://www.umm-usa.com;. much finer work than the Xacto saw that I have used. Held off getting one of these and that was a mistake. Well worth the cost.

Calling this one done. Having built a few of these in the past this is the first time I cut the glass to display open. Much easier to cut it up for the Malcolm Hood option. But with the exception of some shoddy rear windows it came together pretty well.
From waht I have read the P-51 was 120 days from drawing board to first flight. And once the teething pains were fixed, it was an all star performer. It made a good pilot better and an exceptional pilot a real weapon.

Very nice completion, Jeff.
At this rate, they'll fly it quicker than I finish my model...jssel wrote:From what I have read the P-51 was 120 days from drawing board to first flight..
