Chris's Twin Mustangs ***FINISHED***
Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
My bad Chris. You sheet shows QP*D. Need another cup of joe. VF*D could have been Glover's and a few others.

Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
No worries Jeff, 'Jan's' marking on included on the sky sheet, including the correct tail designator.
If you want them PM me your address and I'll shoot them to you.

Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
The noses are painted, and the tail of Heatwave
The wings are next, that open panel is a horrible fit, will need putty
The wing roots of both need a lot of putty
The bottom panel is even worse, this is one of the worst engineered kits I ever saw from Monogram
Eagleston's plane is puttied up the same way
After the putty has dried, it is sanded and the tape is removed
Extra putty and sanding was needed under the nose
The 2nd plane is done the same way
Heatwave and eagle are almost ready for paint

Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
Masked and painted the anti glare panels
Props are assembled and touched up
I started doing the decals for Louisanna heatwave first as I was trying some invasion stripe aeromaster decals. The top and side ones went on ok, but I realized that because of the underwing pylons the lower decals were no go, so i decided to paint them instead. I had to mask the area that would be sprayed white while protecting the surface decals and paintjob. I used tamiya tape and some napkins for this
After the white spray had dried I masked off the black stripes and did them with a bursh to save time
The upper stripes need touch ups as the decals were designed for teh Tamiya kit and didn't fit correctly. In hindsight I should have just painted them from the start.

Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
The nose is decaled and attached, don't worry, I fixed the misaligned code on one of the blades
Started decaling Eagleston's plane, made a stupid mistake on the top and hit it with the wrong silver and it flaked a bit, no matter
Next thing is the canopy is prepainted
Canopy is attached with white glue, the rear slides so it can be displayed open or closed
Same is done for the eagle, and I decided to hit it with some clear laquer to smoothe the flake a tad, and because the decals were not adhearing to the improper paint. The nose panel will have to be dulled
The two birds side by side, next is landing gear and underwing stores

Re: Chris's Twin Mustangs
Thanks Jeff
Heat wave gets it's landing gear and tanks
Eagle gets hers as well
Home strech now, just a few details and they are done
