Looking good
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!
Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
Keep on truckin' there David. Nice job on the canopy by the way.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
Thanks Chris, Chuck, Loftleidir, Stuart, Jeff.
Jeff- the Dominican canopy did turn out well and I was a little worried that it would look wrong, never having used this transparent enamel before but it mixed easily, went on well, did not drag and dried evenly.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
Both models of the second pair are now primed and now here is Mustang number three, the RAF Mustang IVa with pale grey thinly applied to the undersides. The ANA colour seems to have been lighter than Medium Sea Grey so I have mixed a small quantity to represent this colour, with perhaps just enough paint left in stock for another four similar models after this one.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
The 112 sqdn Mustang is now in Revell Aqua 77 Dust Grey upper base coat ready for the Olive Drab disruptive.
Waiting for the paint to dry on the RAF mustang left me at a loss of what to do so I made a start on painting the Korean F-51D with the first coat of silver on the wings.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
thanks Chip, I rather like the IAF one myself and may well do a Spitfire in the same colours later.
Back to the mustang: I chose Humbrol 66 to represent the ANA Olive Drab and with that now on the next step will be to varnish the model ready for the decals.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
Excellent David, the IAF colours and markings in particular are very attractive. I wasn't aware that Humbrol made clear enamels, I've only ever used Tamiya's clear acrylics, but it certainly looks effective on the Dominican machine.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
With the decals on and a few of the more prominent stencil details painted on the model just needs matt varnishing before final assembly.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
Have been away all day so have not had a great deal of time for building today, I also noticed this evening that I have used the wrong upperwing roundels for this colour scheme so these have now been changed. The serial has been painted on around the code letter on each side and final assembly can begin next. This colour scheme is definately growing on me and I will probably build the other 112 sqdn 'K' Mustang GA-S, KM124 as well if I can get another kit in time.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
The Korean machine is also taking shape alongside the Mustang IVa, here it has had three washes of Revell Aqua 90 Silver on the wings and tailplane and the first panels of the fuselage have been painted in a wash of mixed Revell 90 Silver & 91 Steel.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
The Mustang IVa is almost complete now, I have decided not to fit drop tanks to this but use bombs to adorn the undewing racks instead.

Re: Lancfan's Equine Quartet
The fuselage of the Korean Mustang has now been painted in varying shades of silver to represent natural metal.
This done the panel lines have been highlighted in pencil and the model has been gloss varnished ready for the decals.

The Esci decals are now on, the kit stencil and detail decals are going on now. The matt varnish will go on next when they have all dried down.
