Nice one Andrew, she looks great with her decals on. Keep at it and hopefully you'll squeeze in a finish within the GB timescales.

I made some progress this morning, but realized I'd forgotten the exhaust system

Pictures later!

Pictures as promised.

Exhaust fitted and primed.

Image

Mushroom vents on the top.

Image

Steps at the back.

Image

Tow bar on the front. I used the kit vertical pieces, but replaced the horizontal part with a narrower piece of plastic rod. Otherwise it looks like those ridiculous bull-bars that used to appear on 4x4s that never went off road... :)

Image

I've also sprayed one side of the mudguards with primer, and I'll do the other side later tonight. I've also made two coiled up sand mats which get strapped onto the front just under the headlights. I'm considering the wing mirrors - I'm not sure I can be bothered

Good progress made so far today, as I am having a day off (next teaching session starts on July 3rd, and we have a long weekend coming up for Canada Day on July 1st). I may even get a bit more done later today. That would be a record number of modelling hours in one day. :)

cheers

And I did get some more work done on "Katy"

Image

Exhaust system painted - layers of medium grey, metallic rust and dark grey.

Image

Steps made out of wire added to the cab.

Image

Rear view mirrors fitted. "Enemy vehicles are closer than they appear!"

Image

I also applied a sepia wash, which looks terrible in the flash photos, but is much more subdued in normal lighting. I have to add the mudguards and sand mats, and put the doors on. Then I'll need to paint the mirrors and weather the tyres with some pastel chalk. I might get this done on Sunday, if I'm lucky.

cheers

I have managed a little more work on Katy. Matt varnished it this morning, and added the mud flaps at the back this afternoon. I've added the round yellow ID sign on the eight front mudguard, and the rolled up sandmats. Finally a bit of pastel dust, particularly on the tyres.

I'll try and get pictures up as soon as possible, but let's just say we are having a "difficult" evening with David's bedtime at the moment

I can just sneak in the photos before midnight local time :-D

It needs replacement wing mirrors (the originals fell off somewhere  ). I also need to put a tow cable on the front and tie-downs on the sand mats. The yellow divisional sign needs some matt varnish and a bit of pastel dusting. Otherwise, it's not too bad. Hopefully I'll get a few figures painted soon and make a little diorama out of it.

cheers

Nice finish Andrew and it would be great to see a diorama at some stage.

That is part of the master plan for world domination. I'm waiting for some cheap OO scale figures to arrive from China, so I can try to make Sylvia, and put her inside the ambulance with a patient. The kit figure on the stretcher is not too bad, although the doctor looks more like a scrum-half with a stethoscope! I have some Revell RAF mechanics who are kneeling, so I might try grafting the the top of the doctor onto the legs of the Erk.

@Steve

It's not a bad kit, and I'd like another go at one, but this time I'd try to fix the chassis warp first!

Cheers
