I am trying to avoid gluing the tilt on the QLT, as I may add troops to the back in the (distant...) future, but it is not really designed to do so. There are two pinned holes behind the cab that I opened up to slots, but I still have to fiddle to get everything to line up... and I missed this time! Too much of a hurry to post the pics...BWP wrote:Lovely as always Neil, but what's going on with the canvas cover at the back of the QLT?...

Quick update. First round of weathering is done, ready for the matte varnish to be sprayed on to fix it.

OK, finished the QLT! The QLB is very close and I hope to finish it and the Bofors tomorrow. I scratched the windscreen wipers and rearview mirrors. Once it was finished I noticed a severe case of back-end droop. I checked it again, and it is built to the instructions. I also looked at others that people have completed and posted and theirs droop too. The front axle is about 3mm higher than the rear one. Not sure if this is correct or if Airfix messed up.

Nice finish on the QLT, the wipers and mirrors really add to it. See what you mean about the rear end. Not much clearance for the spare wheel.

Well, I think it's a bit of "yes and no". According to British Military Trucks of World War Two by Les Freathy (Tankograd 2012):ntrocket88 wrote:Once it was finished I noticed a severe case of back-end droop. (p.97)One of the early variants of the QL was the QLT Troop Carrier blessed with the name "Trooper" or often "Drooper" due to the rear overhang that tended to sag a little after much use.
Presumably Airfix based their kit on a well-used vehicle. There's no indication that the "droopiness" was a function of the QL family in general, just the QLT, which implies that if you used the chassis to make one of the other dozen variants you might have to work to "undroop" it.

@Nigel: Many thanks for your kind comment.
@ Bruce: Many, many thanks for that information. You have no idea what a relief that is! I was 'this' close to tearing it apart (again)!!!

Great finish the weathering is spot on.
I'm not a great lover of 1/76 AFV's but having seen what you have done with these two I'm tempted to get some more.

They look great, with builds and photos up to your usual excellent standards Neil. You really do make these small scale kits seem much larger with some great detailing and painting.
