Sign-up and Chat

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

A continuation of the original sign-up topic in GB Chat.

This GB is for aircraft marked in different colors than usual -- captured aircraft would be an example, although whiff's may also be acceptable.

It starts Saturday, 1 June, wherever you are, and ends Sunday, 30 June, wherever you are.

Your GBL, Ian, will fill in any other requirements.

Good morning all and welcome to the 'Wulf in Johnsons Clothing' GB, so called because of the Fw-190 I built and painted in a Spitfire camouflage scheme and finished with the decals from the Airfix Spitfire IX, JE*J.

After posting pics of the finished model I had lots of positive comments and someone suggested there may be a GB in there somewhere - and here we are!

Da Roolz are very straightforward and as inclusive as possible.

Your model can be a new build.
Your model can be a stalled build.
Your model can be a completed build.
The only stipulation is that once it's built/completed/sanded down your model must be painted (as closely as possible) to the scheme that the aircraft your decals have come from.

This is a great opportunity to have a bit of fun with a model or two.
You might simply pick two kits from your stash and build them side by side and then just paint and decal them as each other, which is what I am going to do.
You may have a stalled project that you simply can't get the decals you need for. Don't worry, raid your decal bank and repaint it to match.
Or simply pick out a completed kit you aren't happy with. Strip it back, fill in those bits you missed last time and have some fun making it into something completely different.

Who's ready?

Are you really going with the Revell P-51D? What nationality / scheme are you going to use?

Well, I have an old rivet covered F4 lying about and I was thinking, what if it were painted in WWII german colors instead of west german livery we so often see...

I am going to cross-scheme these two.

And then if I have time I am going to try to do something with Spotted Cow.

And if I still have time I might use the B-17 decals on this.

Fun, fun, fun!
