Stuarts RAF Zipper! - Finished!
Hi Guys and Gals,
Although my modelling (and posting) time is right down after I started my new job, I really want to take part in this GB....
So here is my build, its my Matcbox 1:72 F-104G Starfighter....
and I,m going to use my Hawk T.1 decals for a Grey/Green aircraft from 151 Sqn...
Hopefully I'll get it finished.
Regards.
Stuart

Re: Stuarts RAF Zipper!
Excellent! Keen to see how this one goes...coincidentally, there was a comment on Scale Model Nostalgia this morning on RAF Starfighters:
I clearly remember Kit Spackman reviewing the Matchbox F-104.
The errors in the rear fuselage profiles, roughly matched the profile changes in the rear of the British F-4, with the R.R Speys. Accordingly, Kit’s thoughts ran along the lines of :-
“Supposing the RAF had bought the F-104, and fitted it with a Spey, maybe it would have looked like this”.
He finished the kit in fake RAF markings, and colours, with current British armament, aerials, etc., and hey presto! What if? was born.
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

Re: Stuarts RAF Zipper!
Splendid. And a nice choice for the scheme.
When I first saw this I didn't know the plastic was blue and I thought you'd gone for the blue and white flight trainer.
I like the look of the Starfighter. I built one several years ago, in Norwegian markings offcourse, and yes it is very long compared to other fighters. It's got simple, beautiful lines. I wouldn't mind building another.

Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

Re: Stuarts RAF Zipper!
Lol! No just blue and white MB plastic!
I agree though, they are nice looking aircraft, very simple and single-minded in purpose.

Re: Stuarts RAF Zipper!
Thanks all, the paint is smooth due to nice MB plastic and a Humbrol rattle can.
I put the first coat of green on this lunchtime. I had to make it up a little as I was transfering the paint scheme from a short Aircraft with long wings to a long aircraft with short wings! I'm reasonabky happy with it though.
Regards
Stuart

Re: Stuarts RAF Zipper!
I, like you, was a little concerned over the length difference of the two aircraft but I think that looks OK.
