Can I be Mr. Thicky and ask what is sticky Avery label. It seems to do the job admirably.

Avery is a company that produces white paper labels over here in the UK, the type you run through your printer then peel them off and stick them on your envelopes. They come in A4 sheets or on rolls.

Being just sticky paper on a non stick backing sheet they are easy to cut into strips, then peel and stick.

I think any sticky label would do. You may even be able to cut up Tamiya tape into thin strips for the job too. I use painted thin Tamiya tape strips for cockpit framing so it should work elsewhere. But the sticky label for general 'fret-working' is a great idea, I wish I'd thought of that before I started the geodetic framework of my Matchbox Wellington out of plastic rod...

Since starting this GB I have been looking at all the different marks and have come to the personal decision that the Mk1 to MkIII were the best looking.

I feel the early Meteors had better proportions than the later Mk's, the short engines matched its wing chord and the curvy tail was more elegant.

Unlike the Spitfire that got better looking as the Mk's got higher I feel the poor old Meteor lost its good looks with age (a bit like me)

I recall making my first Airfix Meteor MkIII back in 1970 and thinking at the time, what a great little kit it was, this build has brought back fond memories and confirmed what a great little kit it is today.

This is one kit Airfix should re-release or update.

I would have to agree, Alan. The very long NF/late marks are simply ugly! The F.8 was also pretty in a functional sort of way, but pure lines award goes to the F.3.

Splash,

I would only disagree with one thing: the more upright windscreen on the Mk I looks really aerodynamically inept. I always had a thing for the Mk III though.

I'm sure people will disagree with me, but re losing it's look with age, I feel the same thing with the Vampire. I like the Mk I best - I must be the only person in the world that prefers the square tailfins instead of the later elegant DH curved ones.

Good progress, by the way.

regards,

Martin

Martin on second thoughts I agree the Mk3 wins hands down.

Progress to date is as you can see the main parts are all assembled and I have given it a primer coat of sky, only a couple of joints that need attention.
