I'm still in with a Churchill III and an M3 Lee.
If I can get hold of a suitable aircraft and there is time I may go for the hat trick or replace the Lee

Put me down for a PzKpfw 3 Ausf F. I was thinking about the Panther A in my stash until I found out that only Panther ,s were at Kusk. (fancy that D before A!)
Quick question - does anybody know if the camouflage was painted on the turret sides behind the additional armour plates that were added?

Not sure I understand the question, the Pzkw IIIF didn't have added armor. But to answer, the base vehicle usually had camo applied under the add ons which were not really 'armor' in a sense of stoping AP rounds, they were meant to detonate rounds BEFORE hitting the main armor and lessen the impact. Skirts and such often fell off in battle.

Although I didn't commit to this when the GB was announced, I wouldn't mind a go. I am away for the last week but I'll try and build OOB to save time. Potential candidates include the old tool Tamiya Tiger I and the Italeri RSO tractor, both in 1/35th.

I might be being a bit dim here, but can you guys clarify something for me please. I have some Soviet and Luftwaffe aircraft in the stash that probably flew in summer 1943, but don't necessarily have decal schemes for the Kursk/Zittadelle arena, e.g the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Sturmovik with skis in winter distemper scheme. Will any of these qualify or do I need to specifically research and choose unit markings for the aforementioned arena of conflict? Thanks in advance.

It would have to be air units that fought in the battle of Kursk to qualify, you could use generic soviet markings as most Russian planes usually had only red stars and a number.

And of course it would be summer camo as the battle started in July!

I admit I hadn't got a clue what I wanted to build when I signed up for this GB but I have several candidates in the stash. The one I have pulled out I need to ask about. It is the Plastic Soldier SDKfz 251. you can build the AUSF D/1, AUSF D/10 and AUSF D from this kit (you get three in it so you can build all three.

http://theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk/i ... cts_id=289;

My question is will any or all of these fit in with this build?. Or am I going to have to dig through the stash tomorrow?

All the best.

Greg

Looks like stash digging is needed greg. The 'D' first started production in July of 1943 and didn't reach the front lines until the fall of that year.

Oh flip. A trawl through the stash tomorrow will reveal something to attack. probably a wingy thingy. Ho well.
Cheers for the info Chris.

All the best.

Greg

edit. I may have a look for a vehicle to build for this when I'm at work on Wednesday, one of the perks of working in a warehouse full of models. I may get the earlier 251/1 by Armorfast.
