Beany's 1/72 Zvezda IL2 Stormovik

Post by beany »

According to the instruction sheet, one of the decals schemes provided is for Russia, Summer 1943, (No.25, the one in the box art) which I reckon is close enough for this GB (there is not a lot of English in these particular instructions).
I will have to source a pilot and gunner figure as I will be doing this one wheels up as always for me.

I like the look of that kit - not a lot of parts.

Is it accurate?

Wouldn't be a complete Kursk GB without one of these featuring. Looking at the parts count, this could be a quickie Al
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

I haven't got a clue mate. I'm a kit builder rather than a scale modeller. If something looks really off then I'll correct it, but I've never had any scale plans to compare parts to or anything.

For the most part. It is one of the early IL-2 varients, without the 15 degrees of wing sweep. Hence appropriate for Kursk.

A bit short on detail, but not bad in terms of shape.
