Blitzbau XIII Rules, Sign-Up and Chat

Post by jssel »

Here's the usual rules -- your GB Leader, Jssel

Any time from Thursday 1 August through Saturday 31 August.

Any subject, any scale, any kit -- unstarted, no exceptions.

Built in a 24-hour period (not 24 building hours). The only alternative, AKA the "wuss" or "senior-citizen" option, is to break the build into TWO approximately equal sessions on consecutive days and the gap between sessions shouldn't be much more than 12 hours.

Photos to be taken with a visible clock, at reasonable intervals throughout the build to document progress -- one hour is typical but may be a bit much -- but do remember the more frequent the posting, the better the interaction and that's what a Blitzbau is all about.

A gallery photo should be posted of the "state of play" at the end of 24 hours, which should also be posted WITHIN 24 hours of "finishing".

Extra non-credit is given for uniqueness of the clock, the on-plate presentation of the meals to be consumed, spousal interruptions (eruptions?), taxman or woman among other things like great music videos etc.

As always, Have Fun !!!

I know time has been a problem for me lately. Plus my old computer dying didn't help my G/B record but I'm ready and raring to go with a blitz or two. I have started negotiations with the house management (Sarah) for time and her usual involvement as my glamorous assistant, Photo taker and general heckler. I am still undecided whether to do a couple of nice simple builds or whether to do something stupid. I have an idea of attempting something completely stupid and probably impossible to blitz (Like the Airfix Sunderland I did) but cowardice may prevail on that one so I am not opening my big mouth this time.

All the best.

I'll be in, but for a number of reasons, including travel, I won't do anything until after the 20th. That also might make my participation weather dependent. Not a clue what I will select as a victim, that will probably be dependent on when I get into it.

Did someone say 'Blitz'?
Not sure if I'll join in this time.

Yeah, right! Wild horses and all that. Just need to sweet-talk Mrs. Ian and buy her some flowers.

Yes. Would not seem right if you didn't come out to play.

As someone once said - ''Never be afraid to try something stupid''

I know what I would love to build and I KNOW you will all think I am totally mental for even considering it but I have thought about this and IF given total free time and IF everything goes as it should the model I would blitz IS do-able in two 12 hour periods (I would definitely need the wuss option) but if something goes wrong or I get interrupted for even a couple of hours it's a non finish for sure. The kit I am considering is big - VERY big, but fairly simple. I have built one before so I know it's foibles and it is not a kit that is difficult but there is thing I would need to do for the build as it will be a show model for the CW sig table. I will have to make the wings removable and employ magnets in the wing and wing root for this. I had a look at the kit last night and even I am thinking I am mad for considering it.

All the best.

Thinking outside my traditional blitz myself. Bigger scale, complex scheme. Possible late war Luftwaffe.

Is it time to finally build the Airfix 1:24 Fw-190, Jeff?

That or the 109. Funny, I've had both so long I replaced the boxes with plastic totes.

No, thinking of the Hobby Boss Ta152C-1

Sorry Guys I can't play this time due to the holiday season and work, but I might have a small window of opportunity on Sunday 28 July for a solo blitz just to keep my hand in.

If this arrives in time for the blitz, it's number 1 on the list. It's taking the scenic route here via some friends on holiday in the US....
