despondman's FW190 **Finished**
My first blitzbau is going to be the 1/72 Revell Fw190F-8.
There are 2 options in this kit, the Fw190F-8 and Fw190A-8 with the Blohm & Voss Bv248 "Hagelkorn". I shall be making the former primarily because I fancy the sand/green colour scheme as per the box art, which, as well as liking Fw190s, is why I bought the kit in the first place. I was very tempted by the "Hagelkorn" glide bomb but I will put that aside and have an idea to attach it to a Typhoon in a "what-if" build.
l plan to commence at 11am on Friday morning, 9th August, hopefully after a sturdy breakfast. I am aiming to pretty much finish on Friday, with the option of a few hours Saturday morning to finish off if I need to.
It is going to be interesting.

Ok now. I have heard good things about that kit. Will be watching
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale
Re: despondman's FW190
Good start time. I tend to go for late morning too.

Indeed he might. Blitzbau is bonkers. I've found it to be a mixture of fun and "why did I get myself into this?"Prisca wrote:He might be bitten by that bug you know, Shaun

Re: despondman's FW190
Lets see if he becomes an involuntary victim of the blitz bug. Once you got it it's hard to shake off and a penicillin cure wont help.

Re: despondman's FW190
You might no be wrong there. One of the reasons I joined the forum was a desire to do the Blitzbau. I had been viewing the forum for several months before I joined, and just loved the idea of a 24hr build. I joined when I did so I was here for this Blitzbau, I didn't know if I was ready but next February seemed just so far away.ShaunW wrote:Indeed he might. Blitzbau is bonkers. On the one hand it might be a total disaster because I do not build kits anywhere near this fast, and I very nearly chose a much simpler HobbyBoss easy build kit for my first. On the other hand if it works out well I have plans to do another later in the month when I know I will have some free time.
Anyway thanks for your comments. It is quite a motivation that other people are taking an interest, though whether or not I will feel the same on Friday we shall see!

Re: despondman's FW190
Hopefully you'll enjoy the experience Despondman. Certainly this sort of build is a challenge, especially if you are usually a slower builder. My builds normally take anywhere up to 12 weeks but I managed to (just!) complete an old tool Airfix Red Arrows Gnat in a straight 24 hour build during the February session. Try to have fun with it and remember at the end of the day nothing serious is riding on you completing. As Sissel has said - you might end up catching the Biltz Bug, for which there is no known cure Best of luck.

Thanks for everyone's comments.
Just had my blitzday breakfast whilst watching, quite by coincidence that it was on, 'Weapons of War - German Fighters' on the Discovery History Channel.

Oh that's a proper English breakfast. But where's the hashbrown?
I could eat all that minus the bacon.
I will try to check in every now and then to follow you when I can. Good luck!
