Fred's FM-1 Wildcat - ***Finished***
For various reasons I'm unable to spend more than a couple of hours at my modelling desk in one session, then have to rest.
So, as I really would like to take part in this challenge I'll do something simple;
a Hobbyboss FM1 Wildcat
I'll not be doing it in the markings with the kit. I'll be doing is as a US Naval Wildcat as used during Operation Torch.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: Fred's Hot Cat
I look forward to following your blitz. I like the HobbyBoss easy build models, they certainly are good blitz subjects, and it should be a fun build.
Re: Fred's Hot Cat
I will be checking in also. Good luck to you.

I agree, this is a great type of kit for a blitz and in fact one could say that the two were made for each other Good luck with it.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I will be building one or two HobbyBoss kits myself this month. Good luck!

Re: Fred's Hot Cat
Never got starting this when I planned - wasnt well enough.
However, I did start this a while ago;
First picture; start time and all the bits on my work board -
Although this went together fairly well, after removing some mould stubs, there was a huge gap betwixt the wing/lower fuselage and main fuselage. Here it is masked up to put milliput in the gap. By putting masking tape each side of the gap none of the fillers gets into the loverly engraved detail around the wing root;
Main airframe with Humbrol 129 light grey on underneath, small parts painted and just about ready for glueing on; The Humbrol 129 is not far off the shade of the plastic.
Humbrol 129 is enamel so it'll take longer to dry. I'll leave my hot spot-light on over it to try and help it along.
Time to rest whilst the paint dries.

Morning Fred. A shame about that gap. A handy tip (to go with the spotlight) is a hairdryer. I have used one before on a Blitz and I can highly recommend using one. On the model, that is. Unless you feel the need to wash your hair as well, in which case you can kill two birds with one stone. Although killing birds is not a nice thing. Of course chickens don't count as they taste nice!

That's the great thing about the HobbyBoss easy build kits they get you off to a quick start which is a big help - even with having to apply some filler. (Make mental note to get a hairdryer in time for next blitz attempt)

Great start, Fred!
Another sweet 'little' HB kit.
Shame about that gap, hope the milliput fixes it.
I can second Ian's tip of hairdryer allthough I've never used it on a model. Just on my hair, sometimes.
