You are doing well. Keep at it.

Not yet the 12 hour mark.
First coat of the top mid-blue-grey on. Its very thin so its going to need at least one more coat. U/c fitted together and to airframe. Lots of little touch ups have been done. Wobbly hand during top coating made me put a smudge of top grey on the bottom of one of the tailplanes. Canopy hand painted. Not too bad, only one bit to clean up. This kit comes with two canopy sets, 1) open, 2) closed. I've chosen open so I'll put in an instrument panel decal and some seatbelts.
The advantage of the quick build is being lost by waiting for the enamel paint to dry.

After a couple of hours the blue-grey was dry enough for me to give it a second coat. Thankfully just that one more is ok, it wont need more. Under my spot lamp now. Later this evening I'll gloss coat it for the decals. My gloss coat is a home brew, and being acrylic dries in about 30 minutes.
I have high hopes of getting this done within time.
off to do some sewing now.

You'll do it no problem!
I'd have gone with the closed canopy to save time so I admire you for doing the open one.

I got a pleasant surprise when I went to check on the paint, it was dry, and sound enough for two coats of clear gloss. More little touch ups, gun-sight, windscreen and main wheels added, Tamiya tape used for seat belts.
In a few hours - the main decaling, which will be easy too, 6 national markings, 2 big single digit numbers, and 1 instrument panel.
more sewing now

Looking very nice Fred. Light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train coming at you.

Fred's FM-1 Wildcat - ***FINISHED***
Finished; the decals took longer than the paint drying. The big nationals on the fuselage needed copious amounts of Microsol over the period of over an hour, to get them to conform to the curves.
With less than 1 hour left;
And here are the fancy photos;
and a close-up of the cockpit;
Having done one, maybe I'll do another next week. Too busy now until next Monday evening, but after that I may have the inclination.
