Bored. So Blitzing a HobbyBoss Me163 ** COMPLETE **

Post by Ian »

Summer hols. The boys don't want to do anything today.
What better time for a super-quick Blitz. And what better subject than a teeny jet.

It's frog o'clock.

And here's the box of parts.

Better get stared, there a lot of assembly ahead!

Same here Ian. Reports due today so will check in frequently to see what you are up to. That clock will go into the UAMF Blitzbau Hall of Fame.

First update.
It's frog o'clock and I have made myself a tea.

In other news, I have virtually completed assembly of the kit and applied some filler.

I have painted the interior (I will add something other than grey) and I have also dunked the canopy in Klear. Also made a start painting the wheels.

And I'm in a Sisters of Mercy mood today!

Enjoy

Well I certainly hope you are following the directions. :ha: The tea should help you stay focused.

Filler dried and sanded. First coat of Tamiya XF-23 applied to the undersides. Brushed on, of course.
Although I am getting more and more tempted to get an airbrush. Jack is playing on his X-Box. You'd think Harry was ill. He's laid out under a quilt on the sofa watching TV.
I seem to be the only person actually moving in the house today. Mrs. Ian is at work.

2nd coat of blue on. If anyone's interested I'm using a 50/50 mix of paint and thinners. It's the only way I seem to be able to brush Tamiya paints without having the paint 'drag' on me. It means I need 3 or 4 coats but as it's so thin I'm not losing any detail.

Also, for a change, I am working at my bench in the Conservatory. This means I have to keep coming in to give updates and stuff as the laptop is in the dining room.
I would move it out with me but the WiFi suffers out there and I'd probably never be able to get any pics uploaded onto Photobucket.

It's just started raining.

As much as I hate to admit it, I actually really like this Take That track.

Know what you mean. I can airbrush it very well but the hairy stick takes at least two coats for me.

Like that track also. Rowing club has just started locally but they do not have ideal practice areas. Late evening when Lake Superior is normally calm they go out. Really something to see.

Must be time for a photo update.
It's frog o'clock.

4 coats for blue on the undersides. I think that's enough.

More colour on the interior.

Next job is masking the canopy. The Klear has had about 90 mins to go off. Let's hope so!
Then the canopy can go on and fill any small gaps there might be then out with the greens.

So, canopy on. It's a nice fit. But a swish of paint has shown I'll need a smear of PVA in a couple of places.

And then CRISIS!

The phone rang. Mrs. Ian has decided that I need to meet her at the local supermarket to do some shopping......

Back in a while!
