An Anniversary Blitz ** Finished **
It’s my wedding anniversary tomorrow so what better way to celebrate than doing a Blitzbau build.
It also struck me that this summer’s Blitzbau is lacking Spitfires and as we all know you can never have too many of those. So I have picked out this old school Airfix classic & I have an urge to build it as a Turkish aircraft. I believe the Turks had three examples of the Mk.1, which one this will be depends entirely on what decals I can find.
I am going to have to do this in two 12 hours stints as the wife is working 8 til 8 tomorrow. Don’t worry good viewers, I will whisk her away for a romantic meal (not a Parmo ) when she gets home.
I will have the children & cats for company & will simultaneously be decorating the bathroom, clearing the yard & doing the house work. I know, I’m a domestic god.
I might even get this done in 12 hours but that depends upon interuptions. If not I can do another 12 hour stint sometime over the bank holiday weekend as she is working all three days. Pretty impressive as she is only on a 30 hour per week contract!

I'm in the office 7 till 7 today so I'm looking forward to keeping you company!
What's a "Parmo"? Is that some kind of northern delicacy?

Sounds nice but looks disgusting! Probably tastes really really good.
I take it you won't be using the paints that came with the kit?

Re: An Anniversary Blitz
Apologies guys, the web site won't let me upload.
Keeps saying that my images are more than 800 pixels wide when they are not.
I will try again later & crack on with the build.

Definitely & definitely not.Ian wrote:Sounds nice but looks disgusting! Probably tastes really really good.

I use Xtracrylix paints when I can as they brush on well & dry really quickly.
All is quiet in the house but progress is slow due to feeding the cats & being cornered by a chatty neighbour!
Doesn’t she know there is a Blitz on?
As you can see there is no interior detail at all & a door on the RH side that I don’t think should be there. So I filled the extra door & added some ribs to the sides. Way over scale but will give it a little definition once painted & weathered.
The kit seat is rubbish so I will find a spare from my Spitfire spares box.
Just added the first coat of interior green:
Oh, I hear the first sounds of movement upstairs....little feet on the bathroom floor & .......that sounds like the co-op cart horse relieving itself on a cobbled road!
It must be time for breakfast then.

Anything tasty? Bacon sandwich?
Is that ribbing just thin strips of tape? If so, that's a much quicker way of doing it than using strips of styrene.

Yes just tape. You won't see much through the canopy anyway so just enough detail to trick the eye.Ian wrote: Is that ribbing just thin strips of tape?
Weetabix for brekky whilst trawling through the Spitfire spares box.
Just had another neighbour at the door & a visit from Cosmic to discuss the Blitzbau house builds.
Got the interior sorted now. Pics to follow hopefully!

Re: An Anniversary Blitz ** Started **
Finally some piece & quiet. No.1 son watching the TV & no.1 daughter yet to surface.
11am already!
Got the wings together with no dramas, I just had to remove some protruding blobs on the interior surfaces. I'm sure they have a name but not being familiar with the injection moulding process I'll just call them blobs.
Time for elevenses.
Now to close up the fuselage.

Blobs is a good a name as any, mate. Breakfast was a little healthy so I'm glad to see you have followed up with some buttery, chocolatey goodness!
You must have a lot of Spit spares to need a biscuit tub. I wonder how many of us have Family Circle tubs left over from Christmas and use them for anything and everything. I have several dotted around the house being used for many different storage solutions. I like coffee jars too. And old Chinese take away containers.
I think I'm one of these people who doesn't like throwing things away. I am officially a hoarder and will appear on the TV soon I am sure.
I'm bored witless at work so can you post more frequent updates? They are the only thing keeping me going today!

Re: An Anniversary Blitz ** Started **
Sorry Ian, I will try harder. Been away for a bit putting some cupboards up in the bathroom. They are level too, bonus.Ian wrote: I'm bored witless at work so can you post more frequent updates? They are the only thing keeping me going today!
I have joined the fuselage halves together.
Quite a gap to attend too but nothing some glue & pegs won't fix.
I meant to take a picture of the completed cockpit tub but forgot. I will try to get one taken once the seat harness & stick have been added. I keep forgetting the clock too, sorry

You got cupboards up level? High five! Well played, that man.
And if you can do that I am sure you are a man who has a tube of sealant. You could use that on the fuselage gap!

I blinked and you are well on the way. I would eat any of your blitz food. Yum Mummy.
