Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
An update with actual progress!
Got a coat of primer sprayed this morning, which I polished smooth this arvo.
I was going to stick the windows in, but discovered that they'll go in at the end, so put a piece of kabuki tape behind the holes for now to protect the interior of the fuselage from overspray. Just stuck the fuselage halves together; there'll be some sanding to do on the seams tomorrow. I'll need at least one more primer coat to get rid of that orange before I think of adding the white topcoats....

Keep at it, Paul.
Even after one coat, you've just about tamed the orange plastic.

Martin

Cheers, Martin.
More actual progress:
The top seam is just about perfect, but I need to do a bit more on the bottom one.

Nice work Paul. Watching with interest, as I recently picked up this kit.

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
It WAS coming along nicely....
I got the wings on, filled and sanded the seams, but in the process, I managed to crack open the top fuselage seam.....
So, I added a bunch of liquid cement and have left it sitting on the bench since - rather annoyed at myself and don't want to work on it at the mo....

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
Well, posting this was a sort of catharsis - I went to the bench and fixed it....but that means another sanding session later. I did also get the u/c stubs glued on, so it wasn't all re-runs...

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
One thing I did notice about this kit, which I think is a drawback, is the locating tabs for the wings and engine nacelle stubs. Quite small tabs and not a lot of strength at those joints.

Sorry to hear that, Paul. I know how frustrating that can be.
Just remember, though. Sometime from now, you'll look back on this and laugh!
Maybe.

Make it have it Paul - beat it into submission - you're not going to take that from a plastic kit are you?
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
Cheers, guys! That seam looks much better now - I'll post photos tonight. You are right about the small tabs, Tony - I used superglue to hopefully strengthen them.

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
Tidied up the top and wing seams - doesn't look too bad. Lots of orange showing again....
Need to work on the engine pod stubs a bit:
Wings are a bit droopy - not prototypical but I hadn't noticed before. Nothing I can do about it now...
And what's up with these tailplanes? Fabric covered? No elevator hinge line? Apparently, looking at photos, it had an all-moving tailplane. And who said modeling isn't educational...?

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
Looking good. Funny how my kit had translucent red wings , but then again, the instructions were in either Chinese or Japanese. Maybe just a different run on the kit.

Re: Paul's Adriatic Skyservant
Shame about the droopy wings Paul, if you have not used a hot glue I would be tempted to run the join under a hot tap and see if it could be pushed up a little more.
