Having fitted in the bottom piece it is apparent that my old friend "Filler" is going to be required at the front end:

This is as close as I could get it, even with gluing and clamping in stages.

I don't think I've seen one of these kits built up before. Nice work so far - it wouldn't be a proper CBK without the need for some filler :grin:

Progress is very slow going as real life keeps getting in the way. :sad:

During the occasional 10-15 minutes that I get at the bench I have been able to get the bottom filled and sanded;

and most of the construction has been completed:

The fit of the canopy is not good:

Quite a bit of remedial action required here!

Chip,

Good going, you're beating the thing into submission.

There are a few filler fests like this on the GB (inc. my Mossie). I thought the fit of Matchbox kits was supposed to be pretty good in general?

regards,

Martin

Thanks for the support guys. I must admit that with the lack of time to work on this and to engage in the other builds in this GB I have been tempted to throw in the towel.

Thankfully we had rain all day Friday so with no work to do I have managed to get quite a bit done. I had to sand a fair bit off the console to get the canopy to fit better:

The gaps were then filled with PVA and built up to a respectable level. With the remaining bits added to it I have given it a coat of black primer, and it seems to look OK, not brilliant, but it will do for me.

How goes the Wocka Wocka? Would love to see it finished, a pretty impressive bit of kit in real life...

Cheers,

Unfortunately I have not been able to do any more work on this due to an unscheduled trip abroad. I am sure I will finish it one day though.

That's a shame Chip as it was coming along nicely. Such is the uneasy mix of modelling and real life sometimes.
