Undecided on what to build, either PK-175 Monty's Caravan, or PK-413 Chinook "ET" . Decisions, decisions. :???:

Although having to choose between those kits is not the most unpleasant position to be in.

The Chinook is an impressive kit once finished, I certainly enjoyed making mine. There are some issues with the glazing, but nothing a bit of "modelling" won't fix. Best of luck whichever you go for (I'd say do both :ha: ).

cheers
Al.

Decision made, I will start off with the Chinook and if time permits I will have a go at Monty's Caravan as well.

In true Matchbox tradition you get 3-colour sprue's:

Plus a clear sprue and Decal sheet:

The instructions are unfortunately in Chinese  but they are well laid out so it should be easy enough to follow.

I will be doing the "ET" version, BRITFORLEB Task Force, Lebanon, 1984.

Looks good, I've been trying to get one of these at a good price for ages.

I was in Beirut at the time and had many a fun trip in ET. When I first saw the boxart I just new I had to get one, but have been nervous about doing it incase I make a pigs ear of it.

I have now taken the plunge, and made a start with putting the cockpit together:

Image

The cockpit area has been given a coat of black matt, I will not be going overboard on detailing this area as the thickness of the clear parts mean nothing will be seen anyway.

There is a decal for the IP supplied, so I will fit that.

Nice work on the Wokka Chip. I don't think I've seen one of these built up.

I have painted the floor grey, and fitted one side to the floor/cockpit section:

Image

I am not 100% convinced that it is in the correct place as there are no obvious attachment points. I think it is going to be a case of trial and error and make do with the best of a bad fit.

I have put a strip of tape across the windows ready for spraying as the windows can be fitted from the outside later.

On the port side I have had to fill in the holes for the USA version:

I hope to get the fuselage together tomorrow.

The fuselage is now together:

Image

I concentrated on getting the top lined up as best as possible as that is what will be on view. The bottom has a panel that fits in, so I should be able to bring it all together underneath, and any errors will not be seen.
