I have to find the rather nice wheels I had from the Airfix XIX, which I carefully put "Somewhere Safe" at the beginning of the build... :ha:

Exhaust stacks, prop and spinner are done, I need to make a dorsal whip aerial from stretched sprue.

Cheers

A dew decals on. I started using the Heller sheet, but realized that the red looked like wishy-washy faded pink.
So spare sets of red dots came off a Freightdog set.

Image

The "Winston Churchill" decal got folded over, so the plane is now named after his Polish cousin, Winston Churchylxz :) As we may have mentioned before, not historically accurate... :-D

I've now painted all of the ancillary bits, and just need to make the aerial and a pitot tube, and stick everything on. The serial numbers will have to wait until I get a new black ink cartridge in the printer (it's in a safe place  ). :)

Looking really nice Andrew, the decals have come out great. And Winston Churchylxz was a top ace pilot, he downed 14 Me109s, he's well known to all aviation historians. (That'll get all the JMNs checking their reference books! Suckers!)

When getting a Matchbox kit, try and get the original window boxing - the decals will probably still be good. The decals in the later boxes are abysmal.
If you get the Heller kit, the decals will also need replacing - the squadron codes are in emerald green for starters, and the red is just not right!

Cheers

I've only got one Matchbox kit in the stash at the moment, the Wellesley, and I don't think it's got window in the box. Without digging it out I can't comment on the decals, but the kit itself, from memory, looked very nice, and it's an unusual subject too. I was looking forward to it but at the moment I'm a bit bored with yet more green/earth/black colour schemes, there's too many like that!

I think your clipped-wing Spit looks really nice! Makes a change from all the early 1a's and the like.

From what I've read, the Wellesley is an excellent kit :)

That is shaping up really nicely with the decals on. I had to laugh at the Winston Churchylxz. You've got to try and laugh really when the pesky decals fold over themselves like that. Or cry. Or give up.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Or do as I did, and get a glass of wine and watch "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1"

And the Spitfire is almost finished...

A scratch built pitot tube will be added once the paint has dried. I've even found the black ink for the printer, so I'm trying out my new art work on plain paper to see how it comes out. Then some seatbelts (Tamiya tape variety).

cheers

That looks very nice Andrew. I take it that the the tap seat belts are connected directly to a supply of white wine for the pilot's consumption should he become tired and emotional :ha:

Everyone's a critic... :ha:

You don't really think those bottles behind the seat hold oxygen do you?
