Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
This is an interesting scheme for a Cobra and I'm sure it will be very eye catching when it's finished. Good work so far.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
AZ Models recently issued a Cobra with the NASA markings inclued. While not a Matchbox kit, it is fairly inexpensive and I may get one for the stash.

Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
Thanks guys for your comments and it's nice to see that some of you now want to add a Cobra to their stash !!
Did some more work:
dry fitting showed that this is quite a tail sitter
so some weight was glued under the cockpit
the seats are finished, not accurate but... better than before !
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Eugenio

Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
Hi everyone, here's an update on my Cobra
I noticed that the exhaust was way too thick and thinned it down:
then I glued the fuselage halves together and realized that some filler was needed especially on the bottom join:
at this point I decided that since the canopy is so big it would have been a good idea to have some instruments on the pilot's instrument panel (the rear one).
A perfect time to try out Mike Grant's cockpit detail decals !!
I followed the instructions and coated them with liquid decal film before punching the out with the punch and die.
I am very pleased with the result and even though they are tiny I had no problem in placing them.
then I glued the canopy and now I have to take care of some big gaps !!!
Thanks for looking !!!
Cheers,
Eugenio

Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
Had the chance to do more work on the Cobra during the weekend.
after having taken care of the canopy's gaps with Milliput and re-masking it was ready for paint!
two coats of matt white:
some pre-shading in gray, just to give a little depth to the white:
followed by two coats of gloss white (all paints are acrylic):
The Matchbox "trench digger" was at work when this kit was tooled, but I must say that the white helps in hiding the heavy panel lines.
I'm enjoying this build (up to now at least... )!!
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Eugenio

Re: Draken's Civilized Cobra
Thanks guys!!
Your comments are really appreciated !!
I still have to mask and paint a few black areas and then keep my fingers crossed for those decals...!
Too bad I can only work on it during weekends .
Cheers,
Eugenio
