Wow! A really fast moving GB -- only 5 days from last post and already dropped to the second page. Sorry about that, a lot of non-modeling things are sapping my bench time ....

Regardless, here's progress to date. Ignore all the Victor parts strewn about ...

Image

As a reminder, I have been taking down panel lines and that is basically done. And I have made the decision, since this will hang from my ceiling, in flight, a black cockpit is just fine - you won't see it unless you are a spider or a fly.

What I did not count on is the poor fit of the under-wing panels into the upper-wing panels. I am on, what I hope is my last coat of filler to just get something that looks decently smooth.

I will keep moving along, although work on the other two (non-Matchbox) Lightnings has really stalled ....

Well, we have leapt all the way to "built" in a long couple-three days ....

Some joint sanding on the wing/tail-to-fuselage joins, then off to the paint shop .... where I hope many manufacturing and construction flaws are well hidden ....

Good progress, John. Hope the tanker's finished on time, or the Lightning's going nowhere but down!

Martin

No pix, in paint shop, getting a coat of semi-gloss black both as "primer" and base for aluminum coat, although using rattle can will negate that effect ....

Sorry about crappy participation, lots going on ....

In between things yesterday, I managed to get a fairly smooth coat of aluminum on, Tamiya rattle-can ....

Got to get out the color & markings sheet and figure out what details I need to do before decaling.

Is there a special color for the nose cone ? The kit mentions nothing, the Revell kit suggests a green, the Xtradecal sheets suggest a tan/barley/???

I have, BTW, two Revell/Hasegawa kits in progress, but not to be shown as such here. I think those will be slapped together with little concern or sanding down of raised detail ....

The Matchbox kit is as last seen, although I have gotten the pilot painted.

I have spent my time on the other two (non-Matchbox) kits to get them ready so I can decal all 3 at once, or try to .... The other two, are assembled, have a primer coat of black, and will get a coat of aluminum on Sunday .... If done early enough then I can start some detail paint, put on canopies, etc .... and be decaling all three early this next week, in between painting of the monster and etc ....

The two Revell kits are painted alum also. Since it is a gloss alum, I may be able to go right to decaling of all 3 at once. Since they will be hanging from the ceiling, any silvering won't be too obvious.

I doubt I'll do much more than national and squadron markings. I've still got some detailing to paint also. Stenciling and all that isn't of interest to me ....
