My method works with the Matchbox bi-planes, only because the way they have constructed the struts in pairs that are joined with a cross bar at the top that fits into a slot in the upper wing.Ian wrote:I like the way you set your wings. I'm going to have to try that as I always seem to struggle gluing both ends of the struts at the same time.
The Swordfish kit instruction wants you to stick the struts to the lower wing first then join the upper wing last, I feel by joining the struts to the top wing first and then using the lower wings as a jig whilst the glue sets, allows you to fill the joint in the upper wing and to rig the wing before joining it to the lower wing.
The New Airfix Swordfish has a good idea that is slightly over engineered but works, they have designed their struts to be fitted through the top of the lower wing before the wing halves are joined.
