Re: Paul's RAF Harvard
Hi Paul, been reading your build with interest.
I have to say that I quite like the box art, the only thing that puzzles me, is if the pilot was flying at that angle to skid his tyre on the ground, would he have not broken off his wing tip first?
Anyway, that aside, shame you couldn't use the FD decals, as SirT said, they did look great until closer inspection.
The kit does look quite basic but having seen your work before, I'm sure you'll have no problem in making a masterpiece

Cheers! I'm glad you have confidence in me! No pressure then.....
BTW, the Freightdog decals are excellent - it was the kit decals that were pictured. I'll post a photo of the FD ones later if I remember...

Re: Paul's RAF Harvard
Whoops! Totally misunderstood about the decals, I get it now, FD ones look great! To be honest the amount of grief my engine and cowling assembly is giving me at the moment makes me wish I had the simpler one-piece item that you've got!
I'm really struggling to get it to go together square. The exhaust is fouling the cowling and making the engine go wonky. Plus, the joins in the cowling are going to take a lot of work to get it looking even half-decent.
Keep up the good work on this old classic Paul!

The kit decals look excellent, can't believe you ditched them.
Nice bit of interior work.

Re: Paul's RAF Harvard
Cheers, guys. No photos tonight, but I did get a rollcage built, glued the fuselage together and got frames made for the resin seats. So, some good progress on this model at least!

Re: Paul's RAF Harvard
I realize I haven't posted much in the past couple of weeks - sorry! Anyways, slow progress being made with some setbacks along the way - I feel like an England ODI cricketer.....
The airframe is done. I had the fuselage together and finished up the interior. Interior detail consists of new seat frames to accompany the resin seats I bought, a rollover cage, 'rear parcel shelf', basic IPs and sticks from the spares box - not prototypical, but representative. Under the rather thick canopy, it will look fine.
The wings and tailplanes needed some filler unfortunately - my aim to keep much of the fairly restrained riveting came to naught, I'm afraid.
The engine has been painted black with an aluminium dry-brushing. The canopy is currently having it's framing added with thin decal striping by Xtradecals. Hoping to get the primer coat on this weekend - the weather is now dry following three consecutive wet weekends.... it's now ideal airbrushing weather!

I'm liking the look of this a lot, your cockpit detail really makes it come alive, I'm looking forward to the remainder of your build.

I have an Airfix boxing of this which I hope to start as my second GB build, it is basic but I think it will look good when done.

Great interior and seat belts. They always make a nice touch. I should have added strips of Tamiya tape, forgot this time as well.
Keep up the good work.
