Stuart's 'Spur of the Moment' T-6 build thingy

Post by Stuart »

Hi Guys,

I've joined this GB on a whim, I had no intention of building a T-6 until I started reading the threads here, but hey, lets go with the flow - I'm now really looking forward to it!

On a whim, I'll be building the Academy 1/72 T-6G with eduard pre-painted PE set.

I'm not sure what markings to do yet, probably either the RoKAF aircraft or the USAF aircraft used in Korea as an LAT-6G FAC bird (although that'll mean finding some Gun Pods and Rockets).

although.......Hannants have got a set of decals for a UN T-6 over Lebanon so I'm not too sure....

Bring on the 1st!

What do you think?

Regards

Stuart

No mater what markings you choose it'll be a good one. Welcome aboard the build.

All the best.

Well Rok it is then, I have say I'm impressed with the kit, there seems to be a nice level of detail including a separate cockpit tub.

Having never made anything other than Airfix or Matchbox, its nice to be able to try something different.

Not much to report thus far, I have washed the cockpit parts in 'green'. Actually I used Revell's interior green thinned highly eith Humbrol Acylic thinners to produce a wash. I'll give it another coat later to build up the colour and hopefully help define the raised detail.

I've spent most of my time trying to figure out which parts of the eduard PE to use, I'll definalty go for the IP's

More to follow, this won't be a quick build as I'm going to take my time and make the most of the detail, I do like this tub though, it's a great idea.

Looks like a nice kit.

The PE looks fiddly, never used it myself. Good luck.

Glad you could join us SirT, the more, the merrier

Like OldTonto, I've never used PE, so I'll be watching closely to see how it all turns out. And the decals for the RoKAF look interesting too!

That sure looks to be a quality PE-sheet.
I'm not very good at handling PE, but tried a little. Like OT says, I find it fiddly.
Those IPs look amazing!

Great, looking forward to watching this build. I have a couple of these some place but can't find them. I wouldn't mind but I dug out all the T6's I have when I first suggested this GB.

All the best.
