Welcome back, Saxon. Your absence have been noticeable.

That looks like ideal Blitz fodder. You should have it built in no time. ;-)

Ok started the kit yesterday, went together so fast I forgot to stop for progress pics! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it came with alternate antenna, I will be using after market decals to build an overall yellow West German machine. The kit goes together well, but I forgot that with HB and their snap tight connections that it is sometimes better to cut the link bits off and do it without as you can see from the rear part of the fuselage join (bottom end).

A bit of sanding will fix it up I hope.

Pardon dusty table.

Hi Saxon, glad you could join us!

Looks like I'm making a similar mistake to you - you're getting so into your build you're forgetting to take pics and I'm concentrating so much on my build and updating my progress that I'm forgetting to comment on everyone else's builds

It'll be interesting to see how the HB kit goes together and your choice of colour scheme will be a bright addition.

Btw, was your cowling one piece? It looks good and I envy you, the Airfix/Heller kit is in two halves and going to take some work I think :???:

Hey Miss Stang! Thanks for the welcome back, and good luck with your first GB.

And yes the cowling was in one piece, quite annoying when it isn't, the worst I have had to deal with was the cowling on the 1/72 academy Zero, I think it came in 4-5 pieces from memory!

Here is where I am at, if anyone isn't familiar with my usual style, the cockpit is missing because I like to paint the canopy "clear" parts a solid colour, not to everyone's taste, but I think it gives it a nice clean look.

Hi Saxon, looking good so far!

Looks like you've made a really good job of your yellow. I'll be interested to see your canopy painted a solid colour.

Man, that's really YELLOW!

Looking really good so far Saxon.

BTW, purely being nosey, why the name Saxon, is it because of Biff and the boys? Or another reason? Just wondered

Looks good. Being that yellow is probably the hardest color to work with and get good coverage, I'm curious as to what type paint you used and how many coats to get it looking so good?

Thanks for that, I chose Saxon as I am German and a fan of everything Germanic plus I like the band of the same name!

I used Tamiya XF-3 flat yellow, I know it probably should be RAF trainer yellow but as I airbrush the only RAF Trainer Yellow I have is an enamel and it is a real bastard to wash out of an airbrush so for that tiny percentage of shade difference I figured to hell with it and went Tamiya flat yellow, the same tone I used on my SB 17 from earlier this year. It took 2 coats, it could very well do with another one, but I like the slightly worn patchy effect in some areas (and I am lazy and impatient) so 2 coats was enough.

Yes it is a canary isn't it! I went through some photo references and as far as I can see the real thing and other models of it are also pretty canary like as well. Anyway, too late to change now! This morning after I secured the canopy I noticed my bottle of RLM 4 sitting there, and well that might have been a slightly more toned down effect!

That's looking good. Even the solid colour canopy suits it.
