Thanks Shaun, Sissel, Splash, saxon, Mark.
With the airframe complete the grey primer was put down ready for painting
Because the model is almost complete and the bulk of the remaining work is detail painting I will describe rather than illustrate the development of the colour scheme.
This was the model after basic painting was complete, starting with the pod, I painted the front in mixed pale cream to represent the ply, marking the glue lines with brown pencil. I then masked off the halfway point and painted the aft postion of this front area in off white to represent the clear-doped fabric, following this with areas of red oxide (Revell 37 Reddish Brown) and grey filler primer (Revell 77 Dust Grey).
In reality the entire pod would be covered and doped in turn with the different coatings and would not look as I have presented this model.
The basic colour of the airframe is a DIY mix of silver grey to resemble faded high Speed silver, those panels meant to have been re-skinned were painted in "Light Stone" and replacement parts in good condition were painted in HSS, Dark Green & Ocean Grey.
The decals were pale blue and white Plasty roundels from the spares box and were over painted in silver grey and then rubbed down to depict faded and worn roundels.
With all that done all that remained was final assembly of the undercarriage.
David.

I like how that looks, David. It shows the development of a restoration in progress. Great paint job!

That's a very different finish to what you normally see. Nice.

That's great David. I particularly like the work you did on the roundels.
