BlohmWolf's Manly New Zealand Vampire *FINISHED*

Post by BlohmWolf »

This will be my first entry into a GB, so I hope it goes well,

I will make the starter kit of the Vampire, using the kits decals and such. I do have another Vampire arriving in the mail, but due to Postage. It has taken over a month to get to Australia. *Interal Scream*

I will start this kit very shortly, so please be patient and watch.

We're all looking forward to seeing these Kiwi Vamps, even here on the UK mothership

Well, I did make a start on it last night, mixed up some Revell Enamel to make a not too black interior, and painted the seats and main cockpit area. I'll scratchbuild some of the interior as I see fit, with items like ejection handles, seatbelts and buttons.

I might be able to upload some screenshots of it when I eventually get around to.

It'll be interesting to see it BW. On the subject of "not too black" for cockpit colour, Tamiya NATO Black (which is actually a very dark grey) is useful, as is Revell Anthracite which is similar. Both are also good for tyres.

I agree. I use Revells Anthracite all the time in preference to black.

Yeah........

Sorry guys, life has really gotten in the way of doing ANYTHING. As soon as I make my way down to the bench, I'm called back up to do something else.

Hopefully I will get some time in to upload photos this friday.

It's Sunday now... :ha:

Have you been able to get more work done on it?
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

And the answer is........................

Nope.

I had to finish off the Chinook for the Vietnam GB. So now I can REALLY. REALLY. REALLY. Do some more on the vampire.

A great weekend gave me some time to work:

Image

Image

A tiny fit issue there, but a tiny bit of sanding solved it.

Image

Wings.

Image

Main body together for dry fit. Looks excellent!

Image

This gap I will use to my advantage.

Image

Body glued.

Image

The instructions called for the booms being added into the wings first before they are joined together. I simply just modified the booms a bit so that could have been clicked in place later. And they did! What a wonderful feeling.

Image

Dat feel.

Image

Coming together.

Image

Building itself, it is.

Image

Drop tanks.

Image

Mhawhahahaha!

Image

Canopy masked off.

Image

Cleaned all of body with grease remover, then washed it in soapy water, then let it dry and then smoothed it out a bit. Then primed it!

Image

Yay! I didn't break this thing off.

Image

Now it settles down for the night. Will add a coat of Silver this afternoon.

I'll be back.

Nice work, it's looking good.

I think you might have fitted your air intakes upside down, the large tab should go down and fit on the location points on the lower fusalarge section.

That has come together well BW, I can't comment on the intakes though as I haven't built the kit and I'm no expert on vampires, be it aircraft or supernatural beings :-D
