Sign-up and Chat

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

This is a continuation of the original threads here and here from GB Chat. It has been a very long gestation period, so let's make it a good one.

This is our second Vietnam War GB, the first being in 2011 and can be found here. This GB is more limited in time, covering the period from when President Johnson sent in the first combat troops in March 1965 until President Nixon pulled them out in March 1973. Eligible subjects are personnel and equipment from any participating country, and kits may be of any type and scale.

GB runs 1st to 31st October. Please sign-up, state your entries, ask questions .... Your GBL is ShaunW, who will provide any information necessary ....

When I find it, mine will be a MiG19. I'll have to print up decals for it though. The kit doesnt have NV markings.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Goooooooooooood morning Vietnam!

Well it is here at any rate though, of course, you boys over the pond have already had a head start on me. The GB is open to all subjects, land sea or air, in the approximate period March 1965 to March 1973. As a bonus build, for a laugh, I could well be pursuaded to allow in one Spitfire in SEA Camo and markings for the period, so if anyone fancies a bit of a challenge on that then let me know - but, please, one entry only. I'll post up my build thread asap but I've got a lot on today, so don't wait for me, post up your initial build details and let's get ready for the start. Of course before the start date, there's plenty of time for some chat here, whether or not to do with the subject in hand :ha:

Lord willing and the creeks stop rising, I'm in but undecided. But possibly a F-4E by Hasegawa in 1/48.

I'm ready with one (possibly two) airfix A-4B skyhawk(s) for my re-introduction into the world of modelling and my introduction to group building....

Having looked at a few completed models on the forum i have to say the standard is really high, so after work i took a trip down to antics in bristol for some mask tape and filler....

Came home inspired

Welcome aboard boys, I'm really looking forward to this one and it's great to see such support from the off. Don't worry about "standards" Gregs, we don't fuss about that sort of thing on here - you'll be fine and will get plenty of encouragement, just go for it!

Don't forget, if anyone fancies it, the bonus "Vietnam Sp****re Challenge" - first come, first served
