Re: Dazzled's Mig-21PF
You're going great guns on this build Dazzled and it's great watching someone attempting a new way (to them) of finishing one of their builds. I think the foiling is working very well on this model, it's not a technique that I've tried but it looks quite fiddly and I'm not 100% sure that I will try it as I would fear a session of stomping around the modelling den or giving the model a flying lesson . Great work, you're a braver man than me for giving this a go!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Dazzled's Mig-21PF
And onto the home furlong we go....
A burst of building tonight has seen me stay up too late again but has also seen all the unattached little bits....attached
And I'm calling this one done.
It's not all been plain sailing though. The Fujimi kit is, undoubtedly, very good with fine detail and good fit but it does have some downsides. The canopy fit is dodgy to say the least. Mine had a missing locator hole in the fuselage that had to be drilled out and the details need careful research with regard to both outline shape, equipment and colour recommendations.
All in all though, I have to say that I enjoyed building this kit. This is despite the fact that I decided to overcomplicate things by opting for the untried (to me) method of foil coating. This was a bit of a learning curve (Read North face of Everest) but I feel a lot more confident at it now. Will I use it again?
Well I've already ordered some more but I've decided that next time I'll apply a suitable undercoat first and use the BMF to cover parts of the model to give some natural metallic variations. When I do use it again it will also be on a more curvy subject .
So that's it. Mig done and ready to shoot down some imperialists.

The BMF is very successful, and I admire you for being able to put it on an entire aircraft. Bright and shiny.
Splendid job!

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Ayup Daz...
Nice Mig.
Nice Mig.
The best thing, is to keep on building. Clap your hands, stamp your feet, wiggle your fingers…

Well done Dazzled, that looks great and thanks for sharing the learning curve with us in a very informative build thread that's been interesting to follow.

Having tried and failed quiet miserably on several occasions to foil, may I say what a bloody good job you have done there

Re: Dazzled's Mig-21PF - DONE
Thanks very much everybody. I'm happiest about the fact that I finished. I've had such a busy month that I didn't think I'd have a chance but, in the end, turning to the model was rather therapeutic
