Colins build--- Thunderchiefs are go!

Post by timet10 »

Hi All
I'm going to jump in with an F105D Thunderchief from Trumpeter

Box art.

The parts are very well moulded, this is only my second Trumpeter kit but looks good, I have decided to build one of the camouflaged versions ( Polish Glider).

My main criticism of this kit would be that the manufacturer provides 3 views of the natural metal version in the painting and marking guide, but only side views of the two camoflaged versions, So I will be trawling references for images when the time comes for paint.

Cheers

I built the Hasegawa one earlier this year which was a surprisingly rough kit so interested to see how this compares fit wise, will be following closely.

A Thud is more than welcome Colin and it's great to see it. I've never built a Trumpeter kit so this will be interesting.

Thanks for the top view Chris that will be a big help

I have done a bit of work on the model the interior is painted and fitted.

Image

The jet pipe is fitted and I am getting close to gluing the fuselage together
Image

I have removed the parts ready to assemble the wings the image below shows the parts required for 1 wing seems a bit over engineered, but the parts fit together really well.

I'm back at work on Saturday so I am hoping to get some more work done before then.

Cheers

It's good to see this underway Colin. Unfortunately, the first pic of the cockpit is blurred though, so I can't make out the detail. The kit engineering must be pretty good then given that all those wing parts fit together pretty seamlessly. Nice one.

I built the G version earlier this year and found it detailed, lots of parts in places but a cracking kit. Came out well too!!!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

How is this coming along Colin?

It'd be great to see an important type like the Thud finished in this GB.
