Re: Splash's forgotten Wessex Mk 5
Good new my LMS had a Wessex Mk3 in stock so I have picked it up for the decals.
This now means, I also now have a Wessex Mk3 that I will have to paint in either RAF Yellow or in Falkland's battle colours of all over blue or grey.
I have also ordered a set of decals from ebay, so stacks of choices now.
Never mind I have heard that you can never have to many Wessex's.
Regards Splash

That's great news Splash. It's looking far too good to abandon.

Re: Splash's forgotten Wessex Mk 5
Just my luck, whilst packing away my new purchased Wessex in to my stash, I found a Revell re-box of the same kit hidden at the bottom of my stash.
So slight change in plan I will now use the Revell decals to complete my Wessex 5 SAR a/c and will hide my new Wessex at the bottom of my stash.

Isn't the plural of Wessex, Wessii?

It's coming on slowly, I have started working on the cockpit, the set of decals I ordered turned up, but did not have the white numbers I'm after.Dazzled wrote:Really nice looking copter Splash.

Re: Splash's forgotten Wessex Mk 5
The cockpit is starting to come together, I have given the instrument panel a paynes grey wash to bring out the detail, the seats have been part painted and still need the webbing either painted or replaced with tape straps.
I have also cut off all the tail rotor blades and turned them around to face the correct way, this is a known problem with the Italari Wessex, I think it was based on the very early Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw that had the a frame type undercarriage and blades that rotated in the opposite direction.

It's really starting to come together now Splash. The cockpit looks great. Have you sorted your decal issues yet?

Re: Splash's forgotten Wessex Mk 5
I'm calling this one a did not finish for the second time.
The good news is its a lot closer to being finished and I now have the momentum to carry on with it and it looks much better in Red and Green than it did in just Green.
I still need to sort out some white numbers and work out how to fold the blades, but it will stay close to the bench.
