Re: OT's Corsair Calamity
The cowling is a bad fit too & will need some adjustment before it will fit over the new engine.
Slow progress on this one - everything seems to be hard work!

That cowling looks like it will aid your entry into the Sanding Old Airfix Kits Club OT

Re: OT's Corsair Calamity
How about leaving the cowling off OT and showing off that lovely engine?

I wish I had read that before spending several hours sanding it into shape.Dazzled wrote:How about leaving the cowling off OT and showing off that lovely engine?
Anyway, it is done now & installed; immediately hiding all those wires I put in.
You can still see them if you are close up.
This one is still fighting me all the way & I don't think it will be completed before the end of the group build but If I can get it primed by then I will be happy.
Canopy next.

Still plenty of time OT and, on the bright side, even if you do finish it late at least it will be finished and not looking forlornly at you from a shelf
Shame about hiding the engine but you've done a masterful job with the cowling.

Shame the engine has all but disappeared OT, but a great job with the cowling nevertheless.

Re: OT's Corsair Calamity
That doesn't look like too bad a fit considering the vintage of this kit.
BTW OT, I think I can see the source of your problems with this kit. Those appear to be the wrong instructions

Re: OT's Corsair Calamity
A little more progress, got some primer on:
i hope to get some colour on tonight & whilst that dries I will look for decals.
Yes I know I should have done this by now!
I never expected to get this far.
Things will slow down now (yes it is possible!) as the Mirage group build has started.

Here you go mate:Dazzled wrote:It's really starting to come together now OT. Looking forward to seeing this with some final colour on .
Since that was taken I have got a second coat on & applied a Klear coat this morning so that it dries whilst I am at work.
As you might be able to tell I broke one of the wheels off. There are a few other parts, aerial & such to add as well.
It got knocked about a bit whilst languishing on the bench all those years but I think I have all the bits. (I found the prop this morning )
I just came across this during lunch:
I guess the roundals were overpainted so I will have to try & replicate this. I will also add some rocket rails from plastic card.
THIS WILL BE FINISHED ONE DAY!
