Got the camera all set up for a video, two words into my sparkling repartee, the camera battery died
So to report, painted a few of the smaller parts, lights, tools etc. and got the tyres done in NATO black. Will let it all dry, add a gloss coat then add the decals, give it a dirty wash and then dry brush. Progress is being made.

I know how you feel, you have the camera ready for a couple of photos, then the battery somehow freaks out about it and dies. Then you wait 4-8 hours for the recharge, then just to get rougly 10 minutes of time.

Even rechargeable batteries wear out and have to be replaced.

I just got a new phone because the battery in the old phone died and it was cheaper to get a new phone than a new battery...

I found printing CD labels with images of 3d textures found on the internet works OK for small bases. Or stick wet and dry on a CD and paint white lines works as well.

Those look pretty neat Splash.

Irritating about your camera Nigel but thanks for sharing you're progress. I'm sure you'll get some pics sorted and that they'll be worth waiting for. I use a digital slr with rechargeable aa batteries. I don't get great battery time but as I only use it at home it's not much of an issue.

looks mighty fierce!

Just saying, If I was building that, I would have made the base coat slightly brighter by adding 4 drops of white to the paint mix, then 1 drop of yellow to even out the shade. Weathering looks a lot better if done right, but your Saladin is perfectly fine where I'm sitting. Nice detailing too.

And the pictures were worth waiting for!

The finish on this belies it's actual size. Very nice job indeed. I'm actually kicking myself as I was looking at a real Saladin at Cosford last Saturday and I neglected to take pictures.

Looking good.

I have thought about this kit but want to do one of the Kuwaiti ones that defended during the Iraqi invasion. Problem is, besided the white stripe on the engine deck, I have no idea what markings they used.

Also have a piece of wet and dry glued to a CD sitting drying under a brick.
Hows this for stupid, laid the disc on the sandpaper, traced around it, started to cut it out thinking 'I'm going to need to do this nice and neat if it's going to work properly', then, common sense kicks in and I figure if I cut a piece larger than my disc I can glue it on and trim it up neatly afterwards

Nice work Nigel, it's good to see this classic British armoured car coming together. Yes, good change of tack with the base. Usually I think of the easiest method after I've spent ages messing about doing it the hard way
