Fred' Tazio's TT MG - ***Finished***
I started this 1/32 Airfix MG as the one Tazio Nuvolari drove to victory in the Ards T.T in 1933. Part of the reason it got delayed was in trying to find out what colour it was.
The other team cars were 'cream cakes'; cream with chocolate brown trim, but Nuvolari's MG was all over a dark shade. Most think it was BRG. But the official decree was his class had to have a red bonnet for identification to the time keepers. The photos do not show a difference in shades betwixt body and bonnet top, so I went for a dark red overall. Also; dark red is an MG colour of the period, but BRG is not.
The driver is to be Tazio and the riding mechanic looks over his shoulder at a car coming from behind as seen in a photo of them entering Conway Square, Newtownards, during the race. The building on the corner still bears the scars of TN Mg's hub spinners hitting the wall during this race.

Nice to see another neglected kit return to the bench Fred. I built the old Matchbox Auto Union in the markings of Nuvolaris car.

Nice one Fred. Being a bit of an MG enthusiast myself, I look forward to seeing this one done.

Re: Fred' Tazio's TT MG
After a bit of work last night and this evening; the spare wheel carrier has been giving me grief, it just wont stay together. Anyway, it is now and with a lick of paint on it. As soon as thats dry, it and the spare wheel get fixed to the rear of the car.
The kit comes with three Brooklands style filler caps, all the same size, one was reduced in height for the radiator. The fish-tail was cut off the exhaust.
[On this it comes off, on my Aston Martin I had to make one ]
The left front wheel is also causing problems, it has only two very thin mounting points and it broke off last night. I spent about an hour trying, then eventually getting it glued back on, but its still very weak. I'll have to get this model onto a display board asap.
I used decal strips over the bonnet belts and over the two fuel tank straps.
The white circles are plain white ones for going under aeroplane roundels. Both of these are very useful to have in the decal files.
And heeeeeeee........rrrrrrreeeeeeeeeesssssssss...........Tazio !
A bit of fiddling to get his arms into some order. His right hand reaches out to pump the fuel pressure pump, the steering wheel will be glued into his left hand when hes put in the car.
Tazio was known for his bright yellow jersey and blue trousers; I've used orange as an undercoat for the yellow. The problem will be putting the TN letters on the jersey. Must look in the decals again.

Smashing colour and I'm glad to see the figures being used.

This is a sweet looking car! Glad you dug it out.
Tazio is very colorful.

Re: Fred' Tazio's TT MG
A proper up date later. In the meantime I have to make some changes. All the filler caps have to be taken off and greatly reduced. And the fuel pressure pump has to come off. I'll adjust Tazio in his seat so he's reaching for a switch, too much work to alter his right arm now. The riding mechanic has had arms from two different Napoleonic soldiers added to his torso. And blobs of two-part resin glue were added around the weak front wheel joints, enough to do the job, one cant see any of it.

Re: Fred' Tazio's TT MG
Tazio all dickied up;
He was glued into his seat, then the steering wheel added.
The MG so far;
Mean while, Alec Hounslow, the riding mechanic needs some body work to get him into shape;
