Ah now I understand the name...Z28.
Nice choice, thats a lovely looking beast. I do like the ol' US Muscle cars.
Great work so far - are you putting D-day stripe on it?
Regards
Stuart

You've done some really great work here Zee and I've really bought into this P-47 scheme, the camo really suits the shape of the car Stop teasing us with the "sort of" D-Day stripes, show us some pics

Zee's Chevrolet Z/47 Thundermaro *FINISHED*
Well, I have finally finished it! My first ever model car. A P47 Thunderbolt mixed up with a Z/28 Camaro, what I have called my
Chevrolet Z/47 Thundermaro
I tried to photograph it with a photo of the plane behind it, but I am no photographer and only used a little compact camera, so the flash bounce and other errors spoil it a bit. Oh well.
What really took the most time was the detail painting of the body-shell, particularly the window rubbers around the screens and T-Tops. Jees, I thought canopy framing on planes was bad enough, but you car modellers have to do window rubbers and chrome strips on every model…. Man, you’re patient! Fortunately there is no chrome on a ’79 Camaro, just black.
Paint was Humbrol enamels, decals from the spares box.
So, what have I learnt from my first model of a car? Well, No.1 was that Monogram car kits are simply superb. Detail, accuracy, parts fit, all brilliant! Much better than I ever imagined. I know real 1/1 scale Second Generation Camaros inside out and there’s nothing to really criticise about the kit, they’ve captured it perfectly. If I was to be nit-picky then I could point out that the steering wheel is a few mm too large in diameter, but that’s just being picky. Oh, and there was no battery under the hood, but then I remembered that I’d relocated it to the trunk for better traction . Sadly the trunk doesn’t open so I can’t show you that . But brake servo, master cylinder, expansion tank, washer bottle and wiring loom were all present and correct. Along with the lovely engine it makes under the hood look quite nice simply OOB. Super detailers and other good modellers could go potty with ignition wires, heater hoses etc. etc. It wouldn’t be that hard to do, but I skipped it due to skill/patience issues.
I have also learned that the Second Generation Camaro is one the finest looking cars to ever come out of Detroit, it even still looks handsome in a silly colour scheme like this! Whether it’s the early chrome-bumper cars (’70–’73) or the later ‘Rubber-nosed’ ones like this, they all look drop-dead gorgeous to my eyes!
Would I build another model car? Probably not, I did this one because I loved the concept of the GB and the aero theme. I will now sheepishly tip-toe my way back to the aviation forum and back into my comfort zone.
To be honest, the overwhelming thought that I’m left with is that I’d really like to do this to a real Camaro, and hit the streets in it!
Anyway, here it is, hope you like it.
Regards,
Zee28

Thanks Ian! Appreciated
(I've been trying to change my thread title and put *FINISHED* on the end of the title, like you guys do, but although it now says it in the edit box it every time I hit the edit button, but it won't change it on the forum display!?! Dunno what I'm doing wrong).

First class Zee, that really looks great and as if it should be in that scheme! To edit your post to include a "finished" title, you will have to go back to your opening post of the thread and edit the title there.
