Thanks Shaun, it's worked! Wondered where I was going wrong (I was trying to change it on my last post).
Thanks again Ian and Shaun for the kind words. My first ever GB was a good fun GB, I enjoyed it!

Wow, that looks fantastic! The scheme fits the car so perfectly like it's natural.
You've crossed a barrier for yourself here, Zee, and the result is smashing!
You really should do this to a 1/1 scale Camaro.

Just for you Prisca, here's a photo of my real-life rear end!Prisca wrote:Wow, that looks fantastic! The scheme fits the car so perfectly like it's natural.

This was my old '78 Camaro, the photo dates from the late 90's.
This was the one that was tuned to the hilt and went like stink! Excuse the somewhat oversized rear wheels and tyres, that was an attempt to get some traction at the drag strip when the sniff kicked in (smoking the tyres on each upshift does not make for a good time at the strip! )
I re-built it and re-sprayed it myself, it was white with red stripes up the hood and over the trunk lid. No decals, all masked up and sprayed, even the pin stripes, good practice for future modelling!
She was a handfull to drive, but great fun, and also stupidly loud (straight-thru' pipes, natch. Mufflers are for whimps!)
Good for upsetting rich-kids in their Porsches
Take care,
Zee

You almost scared the living daylights out of me there, Zee!Zee28 wrote:Just for you Prisca, here's a photo of my real-life rear end!
Phew!
Your car's got a very nice behind. White is not my color but you can't go wrong with a Camaro. Great job fixing it up!
How long did you have it?

Man that looks great - what a stunning car! I'll keep a look out for you in a real one next time I head down 'sarf - you'll have the best looking car parked on the M25!
It does look similer to a 'firebird'?!? Did you mention somewhere that this was the case
Very very nice work - well done mr Zee

That looks fantastic. It would be a real head turner in 1/1 scale.

Nor mine, but I was skint at the time and couldn't afford new paint, so I had to use paints that I had left over from other jobs that I'd done for friends and relatives. I had a lot of Volkswagen Alpine White left over from doing a Golf for a mate, so that became the main colour. The stripes were Rosso Corsa Red left over from doing a repair on a Lancia for somebody.Prisca wrote:Your car's got a very nice behind. White is not my color
Agreed! I love 'em. I currently have a 1970 model recently imported from California awaiting restoration (when I get the time!).Prisca wrote: but you can't go wrong with a Camaro.
Ages and ages, well over 20 years, until it's hard life on the street in all weathers (no garage, not rich enough!) got the worst of it and the rust really got a hold underneath (Camaros do rot!) and it became uneconomic to repair. There's only so much welding and patching one can do! And my MOT guy changed, and the new guy was, erm, less 'Flexible' when it came to 'Buying' a pass certificate and overlooking the 'Minor blemishes'Prisca wrote:How long did you have it?
But she drove and handled really good until she passed away into the junk yard in the sky.
Come on Ian, what sane person with even the tiniest bit of petrol in their veins doesn't love the sound of a soft burbling V8 on a cold start? Everyone said it sounded great, they were more annoyed by the kid down the road on his moped that sounded like an angry wasp......Ian wrote:Your neighbours must have loved you when you got up early to go to work!
Thanks John, appreciated, glad you liked it! I tried to emulate the P47 scheme and used the nose and rear bumper/spoiler to represent the cowling and rudder respectively. I wasn't sure it would work out.jRatz wrote:Excellent ! The red nose and yellow tail are artistically done and add to it. Well done!!
I'll be the one overheating in the traffic! A moody camshaft and over-advanced ignition makes for a something that gets hot if not 'stretching it's legs'.Sir T wrote:Man that looks great - what a stunning car! Yep, they were GM's Sister Cars, but common components were far less than people thought. On these Second generation cars only the trunk lid and roof were shared components, everything else was different, including all other body pressings, drivetrain, engine, interior, lighting etc. etc. The Pontiac Firebird was more flamboyant, the Chevrolet Camaro was more subtle in it's execution, but each has their fans.Sir T wrote:It does look similer to a 'firebird'?!? So glad you like the model, it was good fun for my first GB! (and far quicker to spray than a real one!)Sir T wrote:Very very nice work - well done mr Zee
Thanks Splash, that's really appreciated. So nice to have a warm welcome for my first GB!splash wrote:That is outstanding and looks so right.

thanks Shaun, appreciated, glad you like it mate!ShaunW wrote:First class Zee, that really looks great and as if it should be in that scheme!

And finally, my special thanks to Narayan, Prisca, Ian, ShaunW, Dirkpit289 (Despite the Ford conotations with his forum name? ), AndrewR, Miss-Stang, General Rocket, Splash, TimJ, ClashCityRocker, Molly-new, Sir T, VickersVandal and JRatz who have all been supportive and welcoming on my first ever GB and my first ever car kit! I genuinely appreciate your support and encouragement, it really helped keep me focused and get it done. you're all top guys!
Now back to planes! (Phew). I'll see you in 'Aviation Modelling'

Both! I'm a Mazda junkie myself (I once bought a couple of thousand bucks worth of noise, and it came with a free RX2 ) but I have a soft spot for some of these crazy steroid-abusing American muscle cars too. Your white one looks and sounds like an utter shed load of fun. Matching it up to the P-47 couldn't be more appropriate. Top build! Glad your first GB was such a good experience. The model or the real one? Anyway, glad you like it mate!

Great job for your first car build, it looks really good in those colours.
The real thing sounds like fun too, shame I can only afford the models.

Blackstone Cherry - 'White Trash Millionaire'
(Some nice Detroit iron in the video too)
They're cheap trashy blue-collar cars Tim, not exotic or expensive! That's why I'm into them! To sum it up, we'll end with a song that captures the nature of these cars. Any song that starts with the lyrics "I've got a Trans-Am in primer paint..." is my sort of song!TimJ wrote:The real thing sounds like fun too, shame I can only afford the models.
