My dads been a long distance truck driver for about 25 + years. When I was young it seemed like every weekend we had to watch Smokey and the bandit which left me with a soft spot for the Firebird, didn't know about the Z28 but I can see why this'd be fun too.

Rather partial to the first generation Mustangs and GTOs too.

Ah, Smokey and the Bandit, the second biggest grossing film that year ('77 I think), second only to Star Wars (unbelievable!).

That movie did more for Pontiac Firebird T/A sales than all of Pontiac's advertising campaigns put together!

Unfortunately they followed it with two much worse sequels (the third one is truly tragic), but the original is good fun to watch. Nothing intellectual, but popcorn fun with witty lines and a cool car.

True the sequels were dire...

The first was classic though, AND had some good songs and a cool truck!

Catchy tune Zee, like the song.
Trans Am, used to have a friend he was nuts about them, really nuts! :-D
Confused as always, and somewhere in hiding on the Scandinavian peninsula...

The soundtrack album is really hard to come by. But it has some good country rock on it, from Jerry Reed (RIP) and friends. Just PM me if you want it....

Now that's properly back in the day! I see the MK.III Escort in the background. I knew someone in those days who had a thing for American cars. Had a Trans-Am and a left hand drive Mk.II Escort. Was funny when the cops pulled us over one day and went to the wrong side of the car to speak to the driver while we were in that Escort!

Thanks Narayan, glad you like it! But I think Splash was first past the post with his Mini.

The photo was late 90's I think. The great British Bobby nearly always goes to the wrong side on Left Hand Drive cars. When it gets really amusing is when I was the Designated Driver for the evening, and you get a tug by the cops (because the car is loud, obvious, obnoxious, and vaguely interesting) and the cop goes to wrong side thinking he's talking to the driver and says "Have you been drinking this evening Sir?" and the 'Driver' (actually a passenger) replies "Yesh Oshiffer, I'm well mullered!". The look on their face before they realise!

But, with all due respect to them, you never really get grief from the Boys in Blue with Yank motors, they are more interested in uninsured youngsters in Japanese turbo-nutter Evo cars with exhaust pipes big enough to get your arm up.

If you do get a tug, it’s mainly because they want to have a look around it!

An absolutely amazing job!! Sorry not to have commented sooner but been so caught up trying to make some headway on my own build, I just ran out of time

I love the photo of the P47 in the background to demonstrate the parallels of your build.

'Smokey and the Bandit'.... a truly brilliant film! Takes me back to my childhood - I so fancied Burt Reynolds  :ha:

If all your builds are to this standard then I think you should seriously consider some more GB, whatever you prefer to build ;-)
