Miss Stang's 1957 Chevrolet F-84 *FINISHED*

Post by Miss-Stang »

Hi all,

Sorry for the late start, I wasn't sure I was going to have time for this GB, but after looking at some of cool models going on, I couldn't resist!

The car will be this, a 1957 Chevrolet, one of my fave cars. It's a tatty second-hand kit that has been partially started:

And the Aero-themed colour scheme will be this:

Same country of origin, same 1950s era, that's my theory.

Now cleaning off flash and other nasties. More soon!
Regards,

Nice one Miss S, I remember building the Airfix F-84 in that very style of box many years ago. Should look good - silver body with a red nose and rear end?
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Great to see you join in! Have you built a car before?

I think that'll be a good match of aircraft scheme to automobile ....

Hey Miss-Stang! Nice choice. Who doesn't love a '57 Chevy? One of the best selling cars ever! 1957 was the first year that Chevrolet offered fuel injection as an option (pretty advanced for it's day). A 283 cubic inch Small block V8 with fuel injection gave out 283 bhp, might not sound much nowadays but that was a darned lot in 1957! One Horsepower per cubic inch, cool! A truly great and legendary car (sorry, I'll turn my Detroit Anorak-mode off now, but if the 'Fuelie' option is in that kit, put it on! Look for a tall intake manifold).

Anyway, if it helps, here's my Airfix F-84 in your colour scheme, to give you a push!

Hi all,

Thanks for all the encouraging comments ShaunW, Prisca, JRatz and Zee28 (that photo of your model will be useful! Why didn't it make it on to Aviation Modelling? ;-) )

Some progress. First job was to spray the body all silver, ready for the red bits at a later stage.

I have also given the transparencies a coat of Klear, which shined them up nicely.

Now working on engine and chassis, more photos later.

Thanks for looking,
Regards,
