Tom's Massive MiL
And at the other end of the size spectrum we have this monster:
It's so big that two of the little MiL-2's would fit inside its cargo bay (minus their rotors), considering its size though it isn't a complex kit and the biggest hurdles will be painting and then finding somewhere for it to live afterwards:
So there we have it, the largest and smallest helicopters produced by MiL, should be interesting!
Regards
Tom

Re: Tom's Massive MiL
Two good choices, Tom.
This is indeed a monster! And here I am 'complaining' where to place my two, am all out of space.
Will be fun to follow, the shark mouth is pretty cool.

Re: Tom's Massive MiL
So construction has commenced with the usual culprit; starting in the cockpit my initial headache was to translate the Revell paint mixes and then to throw away the results and go with what felt right So lots of Humbrol 65 it is then. Another one of those strange colours in the Humbrol lists that doesn't really match anything but it does have its occasional use:
Good to see that Revell / Zvezda included both collective and pitch controls for both pilots. Lots of decal intrument panels are included on the sheet so it seemed rude not to use them:
Just visable at the back of shot is the beginnings of the turbine exhausts, these will need painting before they disappear into the cavernous outlets.
So a slow and steady start but I think that might be the best way to tackle such a monster!
Regards

Re: Tom's Massive MiL
Update time.
Lots of painting of interior parts so far. I'm still undecided as to whether I go for the all hatches open approach or if I button everything up. The second option will be a lot quicker but there is a heck of a lot of very nice detail provided in the interior and it would be a shame to hide it all away. So, just in case, im making sure its all painted:
Close up of the finished cockpit assembly and turbine exhausts:
And im rather pleased that the turbines are just visible inside the exhaust outlets:
Not far from getting all the sub-assemblies together and seeing how they fit into the fuselage halves.
Regards

Looking real good and yes the chimneys look fabulous.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Tom's Massive MiL
Urgh 10 days lost thanks to night shifts has put me a long way behind on the monster but I have at least managed to finish fitting out the interior:
I'll be wrestling the fuselage halves together this afternoon with the help of a lot of clamps and strong glue to cure the warpage, wish me luck

Great looking detail Tom.
You should avoid those night shifts you know. They seem to put a damper on your model making activities
