Re: Martin's Christmas Cracker(s)
Nice going Martin. I'll be building a couple of Spitfire Vb once I've finished the Secret Santa Jug. Mine are 70s pressings though.
Here's a thread on the undersides of Hurricanes which might prove useful.

I can't vouch for its accuracy, but some of your Hurricane may be finished in aluminium (paint or bare metal?) underneath.
Cheers
Andrew

Both of these are coming on nicely Martin and a great bit of additional detailing on the Spitfire. You can't add enough extra detail to a Spitfire you know.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Martin's Christmas Cracker(s)
Shaun,
Thanks! Tonight I cut down the wheel well walls, sanded them flush, added tipp ex to seal them in round the base. Then I washed the wings and got rid of all the crud in the panel lines then gave it a scoosh of primer. Looks OK.
Spinner is now painted and prop blades tidied up. I still need to do the yellow tips, though.
Still no sign of the cockpit set . . .
regards,
Martin

Re: Martin's Christmas Cracker(s)
Re the Hurri, 3 coats of Xtracrylix dark earth on tonight, after masking up the upper / lower demarkation. Another coat needed, then dark green will be added. I have decided that the 85 Sqn scheme in the forthcoming Airfix release is "not very well documented" as the decals (which I don't have, of course) appear to not include a serial number and I can't find anything on t'net. Consequently, I'll use some artistic license and go with the standard half white / half black underside.
My Spitfire cockpit from Hannants hasn't arrived yet! Methinks it may have been lost in the mail.
regards,
Martin

I'm impressed with your wing clipping on the Spit, Martin. But start painting the plastic parts for the interior - just in case.
The hurri is looking lovely. Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: Martin's Christmas Cracker(s)
Have faith, padwan! My Aires Spit Mk V interior arrived today It looks really wide compared to the plastic. Even dremelling down the interior till it's paper thin and removing thickness from the resin may not be enough. Stay tuned!Ian wrote:I'm impressed with your wing clipping on the Spit, Martin. Here is where the Hurri is now after another coat of dark earth and 3 coats of dark green:
I'll let all that dry, then remove the masking and touch up. I'll then remask for the black half of the underside.

Martin

I think the resin is designed for the Tamiya kit,and it seems to me that the cockpit area on the kit is a little too wide itself.

Re: Martin's Christmas Cracker(s)
Good looking hurricane. But, do you think the dark earth might be a bit light shaded?
