Always nice when the supplied crew actually fit the model properly.

Well, in fairness, the driver only fits because, as molded, he bears a striking resemblance to Douglas Bader

Fun.

Does Vallejo do an out of the dropper match for SCC.15?

Not as far as I am aware, but there's this mix, which I use

**Vallejo mix: SCC15 British Olive WWII** (by Alan Brown)

Mix equal parts of 70888 Olive Grey + 70924 Russian Uniform WWII

It's Model Colour, so it needs thinning a bit for the airbrush, but it goes on nicely.

I completely forgot my Vallejo goal and painted with White Ensign.

I'll have to do some research and overpaint to get back on track .... (Thanks Andrew)

I was just researching Vallejo mixes for SCC 2 for a Canadian M3 Lee. Just always include "Mike Starmer" in your internet searches and you should get a hit!

Andrew, I suppose you are trying to say that Mike hasn't published one of the consolidated documents as he did for Tamiya mixes ?? I do not see me trying to translate Tamiya -> Vallejo, then factoring in the mixes :)

I think he has recommended mixes using Vallejo, but they seem to be spread around a bit!

Here's a useful one with some Vallejo in it.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47208/th ... x+Database;

SCC 2 brown: 3pts 871 + 2pts 873

SCC1A; 5pts 822 + 1pt 871 this is a disruptive colour used over SCC2 and SCC15.

Model Colour 822 is German Camo Black Brown
871 is Leather brown
873 is US Field Drab

I have had a number of interruptions over the last few days, and just now got to tackling the "hard part", the tracks.

Image

They are a nice single piece, well-detailed, with a mold seam running right around the center of the tracks, all the way around, inside and out, noticeable .... So I spent half an afternoon filing between the cleats on each track, all 6 of 'em, to get rid of the seam ....

It's the only real problem I have had with this kit .... Anyway, basic color is on the running gear parts, maybe need a 2nd coat in places, then it's on to painting track, tyres, and springs ....

The other equipment has basic color applied, so we are getting along .... Still haven't started the crew, still kinda stalling to see if the Dan Taylor stuff shows ...

Yeah, but the rest of it is pretty clean, and to be fair it was really half a short afternoon ....

We are painting ....

Here they are with a base coat, all the track painted, etc ....

Image

And here's the first coat of camo. I have decided to leave the NW Europe scheme as green, at least for today ....

Image

I'm not really a good painter, and having some difficulty with brush control on these small things .... There will be a touch-up phase .... Hmmm, I think I see some stray paint on the tracks to fix ....

I just realized I have forgotten the little front skirts on all three; then I discovered how poor a fit they are. I think I should have shaved off the track behind them but it is too late now. I have glues them on as best I can, will run a bead of CA to strengthen that and fill the gap, then repair damages .... :frown:

It's my fault for forgetting them ....
