Didn't they have the same problem with the Tiffie when it first appeared? The big "mouth" underneath made it look like a radial from certain angles, so they ended up with black and white ID stripes.jRatz wrote:Over-size insignia, under both wings -- because of the ground-attack role and "resemblance" to a FW because of the radial engine ... which doesn't say much for GI eyesight I guess ....

That's right, they did.Brickie wrote:Didn't they have the same problem with the Tiffie when it first appeared? Canopy cut out and framing painted.
Some trimming still to do - Pavla claim that it fits all kits, but it doesn't really fit this one
I'm also scratchbuilding a gunsight on top.
I also fitted the bombs underneath. I need to study the exact positioning of the belly tank, as I have no locating holes to work with.
cheers
Andrew

A little trimming on the rear window frame should improve the fit no end. It's almost there.PaulBradley wrote:Shame about the canopy. I hope the kit one reappears sometime soon!!
No sign of the kit canopy, I'm afraid
Cheers

Re: Andrew's Prezzie: A Christmas Jug
Thanks OT
Some more careful trimming of the canopy resulted in the best compromise fit. Not great but adequate.
I glued the canopy in with UHU and then went round with plastic putty to fill the gaps.
I mix the white Vallejo plastic putty with a little of the olive drab paint. This gives the putty an olive drab shade too, so you won't see any white putty anywhere from the other side of the canopy.
Most of the starboard side is already filled.
But the port side has not yet been filled. The belly tank and tailwheel doors went on too.
The exterior doors will need painting. I forgot

This is coming along very well Andrew. Just looking at the first pic though, is the prop a little wonky? sorry for being picky, but sometimes stuff like that only becomes apparent to fresh eyes looking at the photos
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It is, because it was hastily pushed fitted on with a little blu tack. I very rarely glue props, and if I do, it's after everything else is done! Otherwise it would get damaged by yours truly...ShaunW wrote:This is coming along very well Andrew. Re: Andrew's Prezzie: A Christmas Jug
The fifteen minutes of modelling results in more putty round the canopy and the painting of the tailwheel doors with primer.
Hopefully I'll get the doors painted grey tomorrow.
Cheers

Keep your breathing regular and ask for a gas and air mask if the pain gets too bad
This Jug is evolving very nicely.

I was thinking I might need anaesthetic to dull the pain. Anyone got a corkscrew?ShaunW wrote:Keep your breathing regular and ask for a gas and air mask if the pain gets too bad
