Phil's Black Widow

Post by philp »

Nope, not a P-61 but the character from the Marvel movies.

Here is the note in the card from my "Secret Santa":

Phil-
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

You are a hard man to shop for - I spent hours on stalking you on forums, figuring out you'll build about anything - which also means it's hard to find something you haven't :)

Anyway, I saw a post about wanting to improve your face painting skills, so here's an opportunity!

Santa
P.S. I peaked at but did "fondle" the plastic.

(think he meant, didn't)

So, Santa, you did good. I have actually looked at this kit several times but always left it (and Elvira) on the shelf at the hobby shop. Now I don't have an excuse. Not only have I got to paint flesh tones but red hair too.

Oh, and Santa, I know who you are as I am sure my Secret Santa also knows who sent him his. One disadvantage of the States is we are so far away, we pretty much can tell who is from what State so even with just a return address, we know. But, hey, I got a cool kit and hopefully I can do it justice.

'Fondled' the plastic?

Still, It's good to see the ACTUAL Black Widow, instead of the P-61. :ha:

Now this is something different and I think I've seen one of these figures built up on the forum. Have fun!

Nice one Phil. Saw a few of the Iron Man (Marvel) characters in Telford and was tempted, mostly for my oldest (6). Look forward to seeing how this goes.

And here she is all put together. Well, sorta.

I have glued the body parts, arms and boot halves together but they have not all been attached to the figure, just snapped on.
Also, she currently has no face, kind of like Westworld, and I am deciding if I want to paint that separate or on the figure.

The hair will probably also be painted before attaching but will see how things look.

It's really annoying when someone has the confidence, not to mention the skill, to start a project like this with a few days left

Hmm, not sure it is confidence or skill John, more like panic I haven't started this yet and since I never even got to last years, I better get something done or I won't be allowed to play again this year.

Got a busy day with the daughter who is up for a SAG-AFTRA meeting then hopefully a little time tonight and see what gets done.

I usually paint the head separately. I place the head on a length of dowel and either stick the dowel into a lump of playdough or hold it in my hand while painting. This also works for the body. Stick the dowel in the neck this time.

Well, if she gets finished in time will be more luck than skill. Spent the previous night sanding seams and last night I got the face attached so I could putty the seam and used putty in a few more places. Hopefully tonight I can get those sanded and the initial flesh coat on. Plan to mask that and spray the outfit, then put the hair on which will probably also need a little putty. After that just painting the hair and details but if I get her done before the weekend I will surprise myself.

No new pics as only difference is the face piece.

We have a couple of others who are going to extend through Sunday - do you want to take that option, Phil?

I am going to get her finished. Possible could happen by Sunday but daughter is up again this weekend so that always take priority over building.
