Re: Adrian's Viking Christmas
I built a much older boxing of this kit a few years back. Building should be trouble free. You might find the canopy problematic though; the demarcation between the transparencies and the frames is extremely faint. I ended up printing decals for the frames to avoid having to mask them. Strictly black on transparent, so any printer should be able to manage. If you want to try this, PM me and I'll sent you a PDF with the artwork.ara398 wrote:Still amazed at the fit of this, even if it is Hasegawa

Re: Adrian's Viking Christmas
Hello all!
my apologies for lack of progress lately, my first week back at work after three weeks off and we were flat out!
Thanks Rob for the tips re the canopy. I'll keep a note of that for when I tackle it. Some progress today; I've fitted a couple of plastic card spacers to improve the wing/fuselage join. The two red circles indicate the sliver of plastic added to the fuselage under the rear of the wing and the spacer at the front wing/fuselage joint. I figured the gap at the front was too wide for a seamless joint, so opted for the spacers.
Finally glued the wings on and used a small amount of coercion to make sure everything lined up. Fingers crossed!
Everyone else's builds look great and everyone seems to be enjoying their Secret Santa kit - what a brilliant idea and I'm grateful to be a part of it!
Thanks for looking,
Adrian

That coercion looks like good stuff. Does it come in a tube or a bottle?

Hi Paul,
Work and weather have been a pain... 40c+ (110F) pretty much for the whole week, but I'll push on!

It's difficult to imagine 40 degrees C as it's windy and raining horizontally outside with the temp struggling to get above 2 degs C, no sunbathing here for a few months

Re: Adrian's Viking Christmas ***DNF***
Ok, (Head hung in shame...)
Firstly I'd like to apologise to all, and especially to my Secret Santa and Paul for not getting this finished.
Usually work is quiet at this time of year, unfortunately that wasn't the case this year! The extreme temperatures we've had over the last month (although not unusual) did not help my cause.
Have no fear though, this model will be finished as soon as practicable and pictures will be taken.
Sorry to S.Santa, everyone in this group build, and anyone else that may have been following my thread.
Humbly,
Adrian

Certainly will Paul! Should I continue this thread, or start a separate workbench thread? (new to this - first time for a DNF...)

Bad luck Adrian, I'll look forward to seeing this wherever on the forum you end up completing it.
