Nope, but my Matchbox Hellcat has 6-spoke wheel hubs on a very narrow and low aspect ratio tyre, so that may form a starting point. Diameter across tyre is ~11mm, but could probably be sanded down to 10mm. If that's any good, you can have 'em.splash wrote:. . . the wheels do not have the flat disc covers we always see on the gladiator, so has anyone any idea of how to make a six spoke wheel in 1/72?

One thing this build has taught me is, don't write things like stress free build, because today after cleaning up the wheels and making them nice and round, one fell of the bench, all I heard was that horrid sound of plastic bouncing on a laminated floor, followed by the sound of the wheel rolling away. It took 30 minutes before I found it ten feet away from my bench deep under a set of drawers
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Looking good so far Splash,
Glad you found it, it always surprises me how far things can bounce on carpet, so having a laminated floor must be a nightmare.splash wrote: It took 30 minutes before I found it ten feet away from my bench deep under a set of drawers

I find the Laminate Monster is not as bad as the standard carpet monster.Molly-new wrote:Looking good so far Splash,

The carpet monster being more stealthy sneaks the parts away when you are not looking, then eats the parts in its own time, were as the Laminate Monster has speed on its side, it tends to be less stealthy and can be heard stealing the parts and as I have found, get as far as 10 feet before getting spooked and dropping the part.
This is one good thing about building classic old kits, the plastic is hard and makes more noise, this could explain why they like the new Airfix kits with is softer and quieter plastic.

Re: Splash has Faith
Whilst searching for my Hellcat I found a pair of six spoke wheels that are the right hub size but the tyres are too big, so I will charge my batteries in my trusty power drill and use it as a turn them down to the correct size.Martin R wrote:Nope, but my Matchbox Hellcat has 6-spoke wheel hubs on a very narrow and low aspect ratio tyre, so that may form a starting point. Re: Splash has Faith
Looking at this photo I now realise I can't count as it has eight spokes
So this is now just a test piece as I have a second cunning plan

Re: Splash has Faith
You really are going out to make this as accurate as possible. I'm simply just slapping bits together and adding boxes and buttons.
Keep going Splash, this will look great when done.

Re: Splash has Faith
Six or eight, at least they're both even numbers, and I have faith we won't notice.
Looking good.

Re: Splash has Faith
I might just live with eight spokes as the first wheel has turned out ok

Very cool, Alan.

Re: Splash has Faith
That wheel turned out nice, and a neat trick with the drill. I would stick with the eight spoke (and don't tell anyone).
