Here we are with the flight deck done. Amazingly enough I got all 12 levers in place, more or less neatly, without loss.

The base is built and painted and I have painted the exterior of the hull, well I may have some touch-up and smoothing to do. When I put it together, I'll just fix up and repaint the seams. I did it this way to allow me to put in the portholes and just leave them along ....

Right now I suffering for lack of a real plan, so I'm not being very efficient ....

Still looking really good. Great job with the detailing!

I don't normally use enamels but would probably be worth getting some of this for my interiors.

The flight deck looks pretty amazing with all that detailing on.

I *think* tomorrow, perhaps into next day, I can:
-- get the portholes in.
-- button-up the fuselage.
-- get to finishing the exterior
-- get it mounted on the display stand

Then I'm gone for 3 days ....

Here we are, going into a 3-day break from the bench ....

Here are the hull halves .... The museum decided to have a satiny coat on the hull, make it shine a bit ....

and the canopy and turret ...

And the flight deck .... Note in the imitation = flattery = intellectual-theft category, I have borrowed from Lancfan's clear plastic barriers in front of some display pieces. Also someone named Bradley on the safety committee mentioned red railings, so we now have one leading down the stairs to the bow compartment. Note also, in the bow compartment, there is a clear "door" into the galley/quarters - that lets the visitors see some of the work going on in that part of the exhibit (not really but it's the story).

And here we have it test buttoned up and sitting on the base. Actually I glued the flight deck into the starboard hull and it's drying.

I really want to make some scale signs for the interior and do a few other things before I really button it up. It's a question of time. I also think it is dark in the bow and have thought about an LED inside, but a) can't find my little stash of them and b) am not sure I have enough time to fool around with it. There are blanking pieces prepared to cover the back of the hull below the flight deck - that's part of the gallery being worked on.

I'll have most of 5 days to work on this, but I'm not near where I wanted to be ....

That's turning out really good. I think there was actually a guide to setting up LEDs in model kits, I'll have it find it.

They are simple, once you remember they have polarity, otherwise you can waste hours, as I did once, trying to figure out why they light some times and not others ....
