BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
After some research through some various online sources, I think I know how this will work:
Something like this:
Replicated with the Airfix Ju-88, which needs a lot of small repairs, filling and the canopies need cleaning too.
Oh well, just waiting until January now.

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
Ok, I have the nose sawed off and ready for January!
But there is a covering of paint on the canopies. Anyone have any good tips for getting this off?

Over cleaner works well.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

I could try it, the reviews seem to say it works for getting paint off without damaging the model. Which is especially good for the canopy.

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
Well, I tried using some Cleaner on it, and a lot of the paint has come off after a scrubdown with a scrubbing brush. The canopies still need cleaning off, but apart from that, I am literally all set for this GB.
Now, where is my necessary cup of tea?

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
After many cups of tea and thinking about how this will work, I finally came back and started:
The (mostly) cleaned off parts waiting:
The canopies are very thick, and required a lot of scrubbing down and polishing, still, they are very bland and not very translucent.
A dip in humbrol clear will maybe sort this out, but my bottle has yet to arrive.
With parts examined, I worked a bit on the rather basic cockpit arrangment:
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I need to take more pics of the other parts, so they will come a bit later.

A very nice project, Blohm.
Is it done yet?

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
Well, at least the painting part is!
I'm placing drops of Testor's Clear Canopy glue inside the cockpit halves to add a bit of life. Once these dry, I can cut and shape them into proper dials and switchboxes. This build wasn't to get every detail right, it was to make it look busy and real.
Clearly some parts still need to get back in shape.
More today!

That's an interesting technique, looking forward to seeing the results.I'm placing drops of Testor's Clear Canopy glue inside the cockpit halves to add a bit of life. Once these dry, I can cut and shape them into proper dials and switchboxes.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but the glue, for some reason, went all flat and melted some of the paint work underneath, suprisingly, as I've had no troubles with it before. I sprayed the inside again, and covered up the horrendous marks it left (maybe the oven cleaner reacted?)
But it left me thinking about something else, how am I going to prompt it up?
The solution......
This old Airfix Bristol Bloodhound missile set.
Inside the set, there was the transport rack for the missile, which could be towed by a jeep. I though, just wanted it to show off the nose.
Assembly was very quick and easy, with some minor sanding and trimming. All that's left now is to attach the wheels and give it some minor detailing.

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
That's a cool idea with the Bloodhound trailer... Pity about the issue with the glue...hopefully the coverup job will work...you do have to really wash it well after using oven cleaner to get it out of all the nooks and crannies...

Re: BlohmWolf's Ju-88 Nose
Umm...yes actually.
2 of the rear turret canopies have gone missing, then I found 1, but that was after I stepped on it, cracking the fragile plastic into little pieces. I may not be able to finish this, as a vac-form replacement would take too long to get here. Sorry Lancfan.
