Cheers John, the fuselage seams have dried and are sanded smooth and I am now assembling the engines, propellers and undercarriage. Pictures will follow tomorrow.

Looking good David, can't wait to see it with some colour on.

I know what you mean, I got so carried away with the fine detailing that I lost track of time and ended up having to rush the final painting.

I have not had as much bench time as I would have liked but the propellers and engines are ready to fit and the outer engine nacelles are almost done, the port unit is a closed nacelle and is now complete and the starboard nacelle will be displayed with the Viper intake open and has just been milled out to represent this.

Although I was initially satisfied with the thrust lines of the Viper nacelles something just did not look right, after looking at various pictures of the full-size outer nacelle area I decided to separate the vipers from the nacelles and re-set them into a position that looked more realistic compared to the pictures. The engine nacelles are all now in place, the port jet engine will be modelled in the closed position whilst the starboard unit will be built up open and ready to run to demonstrate the deployed layout.

This is the model as it now stands, the joints on the engine nacelles will be smoothed down tomorrow and then final assembly and painting can begin- the end is in sight!

The model is now almost complete and is ready for paint, I have used the full bomb bay doors as these will form the base for a walk-on platform, the bomb bay overhang has been covered over with plastic card and that has in turn been covered with card (grey Airfix box) to represent carpet.

The Shackleton is coming along nicely, no more pictures yet as I am today applying the decals after I applied the main paint scheme last night. The next job will be to fit the U/C doors, engine pods and propellers, then all that will remain will be to work up, print and fit the display boards onto the platform at the rear.

Considering you did not really start this till mid way through the GB you have achieved a fair amount of work. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.

Gosh, there's something about just having a section of plane on display, it's very compelling, looks fab.

Cheers

Very well done ! Of course I hate it when you disappear for a day and come back with it completely painted and decaled
